Sabres trade Jokiharju to Boston for a 4th round pick

Imagine being traded but then finding out it didn't go through in time. That'd be an awkward morning the next time you came into work.

The Marchand return hasn’t been put out there yet either. It’s a Boston thing at this point, making a lot of last second moves.

Boston awkwardly trying to hit Unsend and Ctrl+Z that sent Marchand + retention to FLA for a 3rd, and gave up a 1st and a 2nd for Jokiharju and take on all salary.

This is the Adams playbook. Get waited out by the GMs and move a RHD (either at deadline or well after the draft) for a 4th round pick. Lyubushkin, E. Johnson, Jokiharju.

There was no spot for Henri with this franchise going forward, so the return doesn’t matter all that much. Addition by subtraction. Good luck Henri!

Thank God he scored a goal in the 4 nations and then in a recent game. Probably raised his value 😂

I’m fine with this return. The Jokiharju situation is an example of how bad Adams is though. He could have walked away from Jokiharju last spring and utilized the $3 million to bring in someone better suited for what Ruff wanted to do. Then again, he wasted a combined $3.5 million in Lafferty and Aubé-Kubel, so he may well have just misspent any Jokiharju savings as well.

A 4th round pick? I’m not a big Joki fan, but that’s ridiculous imo. Especially after we just gave away our 2nd. 
 

Id have wanted something else. He has played better this year and I would have liked him as bottom 3 pair or #7 which, imo, is worth more than a 4th round pick.

When Joki is on his game, he's better value than a 4th round pick.  He seemed be playing better since the 4 Nations.  I assume they were sitting him recently to keep him healthy for a potential trade.  I suppose the Sabres wanted him off the roster, both as a player that doesn't fit what the team is trying to do and also as a salary dump, so they took what they could get.  Better than nothing.

Today was step 1 and 2 in improving the  D in moving from Gilbert and Jokiharju 

step 3 is Bryson 
 

Clifton has to be 7/8 next season 

can Bernard-Docker be part of the solution? I'm really low on Samuelsson but maybe he is on the bottom pair for the 50 \ 60 games he plays in next year 

I fear that they see JBD as a top 4 RHD to pair with Power that we've been begging for
