Standing Room Smoking Cigs Posted Friday at 04:52 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:52 PM I hate when trade deadline disrupts my Friday Matlock marathon on Peacock.. A pox upon you Bettman. 3 Quote
triumph_communes Posted Friday at 04:53 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:53 PM Cozens was broken between the ears since the concussion. Had no finish. Traded for a guy who only knows how to finish. You can work with the latter, the former is hopeless. I like the trade 2 Quote
Thorner Posted Friday at 04:53 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:53 PM Cozens was one of the few players on this team I sorta liked so that aspect is a downer 2 Quote

Even if Norris is better for us than Cozens is now, I don’t see how Ottawa doesn’t come out of this far ahead of us. I have this 'feeling' that Cozens will look good for the rest of the year. I think the trade will 'reinvigorate' him, and I think he needs that. Also, I think when he gets there they might just tell him "go out there and just play simple hockey, shoot the puck, hit people" and that is his game. Next year after a full year of camp, where he 'learns' the system more and they start asking him to do more (defensive coverage), that is when you might see things settle back down for him in a negative way. That might be oversimplifying it....but the above would be my best guess for how things unfold for him. Much better play for Ottawa this year than he has played for Buffalo...and then next year and beyond are up to him deciding whether he wants to put the work in to legit change his game. Benson gets the puck to dangerous areas when no one is there to finish. Dahlin and Power both transition the puck well. Tuch is a slightly underrated playmaker. Quote

triumph_communes Posted Friday at 04:57 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:57 PM Bensen, Greenway, Tuch, JJP all do great at making space. Tage finishes when he’s healthy but then it falls apart Quote

Thorner Posted Friday at 04:58 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:58 PM (edited) Peterka - Thompson - Kulich Greenway - Norris - Tuch ..good? Is there a stylistic fit here? it’s lacking playmaking. Peterka and Tuch I suppose Edited Friday at 04:59 PM by Thorner Quote

On the other hand, you don't always need to 'create' from the center position. He could be someone what meshes well and finishes what Dahlin creates from the blue-line. 1 minute ago, DarthEbriate said: I think it was Hathaway who officially destroyed Cozens. Maybe Norris can run a 2nd line, and allow us to bring back the Tuch/Thompson combo on line 1? Edited Friday at 05:10 PM by dudacek 1 Quote

HumanSlinky39 Posted Friday at 05:07 PM Report Posted Friday at 05:07 PM If Norris can stay healthy, it's a fine trade. The baked in injury history is my concern. He's never played more than 66 games in a season. Missed almost all of 2022/23. Missed 32 games last season. Has missed 8 games this season with "upper body injury." He's had 3 surgeries on his left shoulder (YIKES). Quote
