And he's totally wasting away there. He should have been given time to develop his skills in the AHL, but instead has spent 2 years as an undersized fourth line grinder on a bad team. Brilliant!

He can't play in the AHL until next season

I have been a Cozens hater as of late. I don't know exactly what Cozens value is on the market but this feels like a move for the sake of a move.

A move like this is exactly why I wanted Adams removed before we move any major pieces moved.

We didn't really get any better AND we didn't save any money. So why bother?

Could help change the culture. Norris could bring things that Cozens did not both in the room and on the ice. I am at least willing to see how it plays out.

Seeing how bummed Tkachuk is makes me happier about this move. Maybe they know more than we do. Hmmm

Where did you see/hear Tkachuk is upset about this trade?

This is my hope. Maybe Norris is just a smarter player who can help this team clean things up in their own end while not hurting their scoring output (which is good by league standards) too much.

I do. I mean look at the C depth.

im not saying it won’t or can’t be good. Is that a “we are assuredly breaking a 14 drought” F group, through? Surely that’s the line when we are flirting with that sort of accomplishment

I said yet.  All I need is a moment to gather myself.

The upside is Norris is a better player. If all goes to plan, IF, this is a good move.

Exactly. Perhaps Norris can be a guy that pops in a goal in a tight game. Cozens tended to play worse in those types of games and would instead make a crucial error like the other night against SJ.

I don’t know what is more frustrating, the fact that I have never heard of the player coming back or the fact that people actually believe that @Thorner said we got nothing in return.

It’s an asset.  It’s something you can use for a different trade.  Why just give it away?  With your thinking we might as well just included our 3rd and 4th as well.

My thinking? Your thinking is the one that is flawed here. Why just give it away? Maybe because Ottawa wouldn't do the trade without it?

Did you have a source in the room when Buffalo said "Thanks, take a 2nd also, on us"

Good point.

Norris - 5 GWG goal this season and 18 in his career. That's... fine. Nothing spectacular though.

Ah, but...

Cozens - 1 GWG goal this season and 4 in his career. That's utter dreck. Just absolute #####-##### ### # ### # # ########.

Am I the only one that likes this move? Get the soft Pansy ass toxic players out of here

I like the move a lot.

I'll like it even more if they make another deal that involved some more toughness coming back in return.

I don't hate it. If you remove Norris's injury history, I think it's a very solid trade. But you cannot remove somebody's injury history and his is concerning. If he stays reasonably healthy, it's probably a pretty good trade. If he's hurt a lot, not so much. He's already had 3 surgeries on his left shoulder and he's 25. That's...not good.

He cost a bit more money than Cozens, and he has a bit of an injury history (not too bad but there have been games missed) but overall he is an upgrade from Cozens for sure both scoring and in his own end. His shooting percentage is almost double what you get out of Cozens.

If this comes close to being an even trade, then I'm fine with it. This team needs a shakeup. It was obvious that Cozens was playing too tightly and stressfully. Moving Cozens was the right thing for the player and for the franchise. I wouldn't be surprised if with a fresh start Cozens becomes a much better player with his new playoff pursuing team. I wish him the best.

Obviously not.  But Ottawa was probably like, “Adams is an idiot, I bet I can get a 2nd out of him tooâ€Ĥ”.  He seems to just hand those things out.

A few questions rolling around in my head.

1st. What is Ottawa's motivation for doing this deal? I guess with the Stutzle/ Pinto combo at center they are placing Cozens on the wing? He fills in at center if needed?

2nd What is mjd1001 going to do with all his new free time (just kidding of course).

Life is a risk.  Could we get a rock solid superior player for Cozens?
