I'll be curious to see were Cozens is in November, when that new team surge is long gone.

I predict he will be a core player for them for a while. And he will play terribly whenever it’s against the Sabres.

Don't ever underestimate @Brawndo. He's cagey and humble. He knows more than he is letting on.

It comes from living just a bit in the future.

Well time will tell but so far Cozens has improved Ottawa and they are quite happy with the deal.

And nothing wrong with that.  Let's see if we get anything out of the players that came back in the deal.  So far I see more I like from Bernard-Docker than from Norris.

That's a fair point and how he does going forward year after year will matter, as will how much or how well Norris plays here. As I said earlier here he was expected to help elevate his line mates but in Ottawa Batherson and Perron have played a role in elevating him. The future is unknown.

Keep in mind that since Cozens was traded to Ottawa the first 4 games were against teams outside of the playoffs. After that they beat Toronto and then lost to Montreal and Colorado. They Beat NJ but lost to the Sabres. Lucky for them they only play 4 games of the last 12 against teams in the playoffs. Cozens showed up at a very good time for Ottawa and it may shade his impact somewhat in the near term.

Talent wise Ottawa is not a better team than Buffalo. They have however won several games with excellent goaltending (an issue they recognized and addressed much differently than Buffalo, a priority in their minds) and they have better leadership so they get out of their funk moments quicker, and in general I see a more balanced roster and a higher level of compete.

How well Cozens does in the future is unknown.

Have the Sabres shut down Norris for the season yet?

What are the odds that we get more than 60 games a season from Norris?

How long until he gets the Skinner buyout?

I remember the angst about Skinner’s concussion issues when we got him. Guy missed what, 25 games in 6 years?

Same with Byram. Has played more minutes than any other Sabre this year.

Norris has had 3 shoulder surgeries. The Sabres may have gambled on his shoulder, but his shoulder right now is apparently fine.

Do you have some knowledge that his current injury is chronic or threatens to be?

Otherwise your case here is pretty thin.

Do the facts matter?

Jeff Skinner had played 579 games out of 622 possible at the time we acquired him. Averaging 76 per 82. He had missed 3 games total the 3 seasons previous, including playing two full 82 game seasons in those 3.

Norris had played 233 games out of 363 possible games… an average of 53 per 82. He had never played more than 66 in a season and only managed 60+ once.

Comrie, again.

the proof is in the pudding. Norris does not play the games

“well, it’s not the shoulder this time.”

Ok, well, “not the shoulder” has Norris on track to miss, just this season, 60% of the total amount of games skinner missed, his entire career, prior to being traded to buffalo
