How are they scoring all these goals if nobody is creating them? SOMEONE has to be creating them. Tage's elite shot and ability to get off shots with his reach that few in the NHL can do. Sure, its only about 15% of the Sabres goals, but Tage might 'creat' his own goals as good as anyone else in the league right now. Edited Friday at 04:44 PM by mjd1001 Quote
Palm Trees And Taxes Posted Friday at 04:43 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:43 PM I am lukewarm on this deal. But as we found out: When you are the worst organization in the sport, and you are searching for answers: Beggars cannot be choosers. Norris has flaws, but interesting upside too. Money almost matches up. Its a risk, but this organization is forced to take chances like this now, because they PUT themselves in this position in the first place. Quote

HumanSlinky39 Posted Friday at 04:44 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:44 PM (edited) At face value, this is simply a trade of a couple of very similar players that probably needed a change of scenery. I don't think it moves the needle in either direction for either team. My concern is Norris's injury history. And this is the Sabres, so more likely than not Cozens goes to Ottawa and rediscovers his 2022/23 form while Norris appears in about 35% of the Sabres games because of injuries. The defenseman is a JAG. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I don't think so. Edited Friday at 04:46 PM by HumanSlinky39 Quote

#freejame Posted Friday at 04:45 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:45 PM I’ll be shocked if Cozens doesn’t immediately play better not being asked to to things he’s not meant to do. 70pt year playing with Tkachuk next season and Ottawa in the playoffs before us. Even if Norris is better for us than Cozens is now, I don’t see how Ottawa doesn’t come out of this far ahead of us. Quote

They look at the stats, they look at the 'best year' as a ceiling that can be reached again, and they look at what the draft profile was of the player. What they don't see with Cozens, not because they don't know hockey but because they don't watch him every game....are all the little things he is so bad at. Cozens around the league is known as a 31 goal scorer, top 10 pick, 6'3" tall guy who throws checks into the corner, and a player 'stuck' on a bad team like the Sabres. Initial evaluations of this trade are going to be Ottawa got a guy who is back on his way to be a star. Its not because its necessarily true, its because that is how fans and media view things. Cozens Metrics are not in the same universe as Eichel, Reinhart or ROR when they were traded 1 1 Quote

Come June, we'll all be calling for Adams head. Norris doesn't move the needle and defensively he's worse. If availability is the name of the game, you worsened your team. Bernard Docker is a bust, and nothing of note. This is not true 1 Quote

If only the Sabres were a real organization that held GM's accountable. Such a good point he’s dealing the guy he overpaid 2 Quote
Palm Trees And Taxes Posted Friday at 04:47 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:47 PM So will Norris be the top line center now with Tage? Quote
