It seems to me like every 10 games he plays, he has 2 very good games, 3 pretty bad games, and 5 games where he is kinda just OK, but maybe gets some positive attention for throwing a hit or two. I'm OK with it I guess. I don't think having him here vs not moves the needle on this team much either way. 1 hour ago, mjd1001 said: I'm not huge on Greeway being a player that really helps much, but the number, if it is what is reported, is pretty affordable. 56 minutes ago, GASabresIUFAN said: The more Jordan can stay healthy the more he contributes. He is being paid to be physical, kill penalties and chip in some offense here and there. 3.5 seems fair for that type of contribution. 51 minutes ago, mjd1001 said: His penalty killing slipped my mind. His overall 5-on-5 play I think is only about average for a 3rd or 4th liner. But I do think he is a very, very good penalty killer, so yeah, the deal makes sense if it happens for that price. The discussion for Greenway needs to start and end with the penalty kill. He’s an elite PK specialist. He also contributes 5 on 5. But his calling card is the penalty kill and he doesn’t hurt you 5 on 5. 3 1 1 Quote

Adams has not performed well overall, but the Greenway acquisition, and now extension are, in my opinion positive moves. The Sabres paid just a tiny bit above market, but locked up a solid veteran player who played well for Granato and for some reason, appears to be even better under Ruff. He's an excellent penalty killer and chips in a bit offensively, has great size, some grit, and reasonable middle-to-bottom 6 skill. 1 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago it's not done until @Brawndo says it's done (or the Sabres PR dept.). 1 Quote

PerreaultForever Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Problem I have with this is he never makes it through a full season. He's impactful for a few games, then he floats and disappears for a few, gets injured and is out for a bunch and so it repeats. There's a consistency issue and a durability issue. So it appears Adams is content to roll back a last place roster for next year and just hope some of them play better. Good plan. 1 Quote
Porous Five Hole Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Happy with this. At this point, the Sabres need as many grown ups/physically fully formed players as they can get their hands on. 1 Quote

Adams isn’t done til the offseason Greenway is a solid contributor who plays a role this team (and all hockey teams) need. Very good. But now the move(s) need to be made that improve the team. And the biggest move is the one Adams cannot make, and Pegula won't make (I figure maximum 10% chance they have a new GM in 2026). Quote

Define game-changer? A McDavid or Eichel? No. Someone who makes a difference with his physical play? Absolutely. 1 hour ago, inkman said: The discussion for Greenway needs to start and end with the penalty kill. He’s an elite PK specialist. He also contributes 5 on 5. I’m happy to see that Adams actually signed him for a couple more years. The team has been a train wreck for 14 seasons and nothing Adams has done would convinced me they they will be better (let alone playoffs) in 2 years. I’m not the only one. No NHL player is lining up to sign with the Sabres. They know how much a ***** show the owner has created Quote

triumph_communes Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago Good player to resign if we’re going to have a turnaround now do Zucker Quote
thewookie1 Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago With the cap going up, 2x4 is a solid deal for a bot 6 guy with defensive chops, physicality and size. Plus if he’s injured frequently we aren’t exactly handcuffed to anything too unwieldy Quote
... Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago I thought he would get 3x$4m so this is pretty good. Manageable term. Quote
Crusader1969 Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago I really have no issue with the forward group this season. Glad he's back. Need the Vet presence and the rugged defensive minded play the real works needs to be done on the D-corps 1 Quote
