Years are good, not sure about the money; Greenway is sort of an oddity on this team as if he's effective or just more physical than the majority.

I think he is liked by a lot of fans because he is just more physical, but not even all the time.

It seems to me like every 10 games he plays, he has 2 very good games, 3 pretty bad games, and 5 games where he is kinda just OK, but maybe gets some positive attention for throwing a hit or two.

I'm OK with it I guess.  I don't think having him here vs not moves the needle on this team much either way.

I honestly have to question any player that signs an extension with this team. They must know that this organization is bottom of the barrel, so why not get out?

A guess....His agent has contacts around the league, and for the most part, no one else would be willing to pay him what he can get here, or give him as long of a deal, or even guarantee him a steady spot on the roster.  He simply might be more valuable to the Sabres than he is to anyone else.

He is one of the more physical guys on the Sabres, but that may not be true on other teams.  Plus he can't seem to stay healthy.

Get whatever money and term you can in Buffalo because you might not get them anywhere else.

Having a player like Greenway doesn't move the needle much. However, adding a couple of veterans like Greenway does make this roster significantly better. Having a fuller roster is better than having a roster with multiple holes.

When he is healthy he is pretty good for what he is.  If we have to overpay a bit for two seasons then so be it.  We need him, or a few players like him.  I have no confidence that Adams can replace him either.

If I were a player like Greenway I would look for a team that could win, but then again finances are important for players considering most do not last 10 seasons in the NHL.   This contract gets him to seasons 8 and 9.

He's from upstate NY. It's possible he likes Buffalo just as well as anywhere else. The cap is going up too so that's not an exorbitant amount of money to pay him.

Canton, NY!

If you re-sign Greenway and Zucker, you have two wings on your Bottom 3 filled out while you figure out what to do with your Top 6.

Yes, the top 6 needs to jettison some existing contract players and add new ones.  If they return the same top 6, then don’t bother buying any tickets next season.

There’s also that certain kind of player who believes he’s a guy who can make a difference. Whether or not he’s that kk d of guy, I don’t know, but that’s a great asset to have on a team if you can find it.

Sounds like a fair deal for both sides if true.

I'm not huge on Greeway being a player that really helps much, but the number, if it is what is reported, is pretty affordable.

He's stable, you know what he will bring every game. Perfect example of a bottom 6 forward and a valuable veteran in a room of kids.

Let’s be positive here. At least it’s not 7 x 7.1 mil.

Dare I say it, for Adam’s, this is………Progress? 3 year Adam’s extension incoming since Terry now has the money to put that George Foreman panini grill on the back deck of the yacht.

The more Jordan can stay healthy the more he contributes.  He is being paid to be physical, kill penalties and chip in some offense here and there.  3.5 seems fair for that type of contribution.

His penalty killing slipped my mind.

His overall 5-on-5 play I think is only about average for a 3rd or 4th liner.  But I do think he is a very, very good penalty killer, so yeah, the deal makes sense if it happens for that price.

I always forget the name of the website/service, but their estimate for Greenway was $3.8M per season. A little bump for the taxes and lack of palm trees, plus rising cap.

He's a good player to have in the lineup. He will defend teammates, even if he isn't going to Rempe and be the cause of all the fracas in the first place (that's actually a good thing; you can have someone else be the ####-stirrer --- Benson comes to mind).

Supposedly it is done

idk about the source so grain of salt

So if its true, a little bit more than we were led to believe but whatever. A bit over 4% of the cap.  No big deal.

I’m sorry, but he’s crazy to sign with the Sabres even for two years. I’m guessing his agent convinced him that he needs to have two full seasons after his injury to get paid long-term deal somewhere

Or he's from NY and likes it here? Sure Caton isn't close but Buffalo is a lot similar to his home than NYC.
