Anyone else checking in here several (many) times a day looking for a signing or trade thread?

Anyone else disappointed when they see no sign of a new thread, but instead the same old Cozens Conundrum thread prominently near the top of the discussions?

😞

Let’s have a thread only for transactions and not conversation.

Sabres trades would get their own dedicated threads per usual. We haven't done anything though.

I can't even find any credible rumors.

I mean, most rumors don't happen, but some make sense. The more days that go by, the more 'reporting' is saying don't expect much from the Sabres and many of the lists of players 'on the block' that are Sabres...well, the Sabres are getting lower and lower.

I think it was NHL.com that had a list earlier today, it listed the top players likely to be moved...something like 10 or 15 of them. No Sabres on it....Dylan Cozens and Brym were mentioned at the bottom of the article with about 10-15 additional players beyond the top guys as 'keep an eye on" or something like that.

No one really cares about this franchise, even the national experts and guys who make up the rumors are moving on.

Presuming your question is Sabres specific.  With the possible exceptions of Jokiharju, Greenway, &/or Zucker could see the Sabres go the entire deadline with no moves other than something that might bolster Ra-cha-cha's chance of winning the Calder.

Would figure Jokiharju going out the door at ~50%, Greenway ~15%, and Zucker ~8%.  Making a true NHL hockey trade ~5% (with Cozens making up 80% of that and Samuelsson the bulk of the rest of it).  Doing anything else <1%.

There won't be any trades because "the answers are in the room."

God help us.

If that's the case, where's the signings? I'll take signings over no signings... except for Byram who sucks (unless he's being carried by Dahlin).

There are plenty of "rumors" regarding Byram, Cozens and Tuch, but the stories/rumors make pretty clear that Adams is rightly looking for a "hockey" trade for those assets.  I don't blame him for looking for a hockey deal, but you can still sell players for futures and then move the futures for different players.  It's much harder to get the pieces right, but we have plenty of ammo to make things work.

I agree with the bolded that you said 100%.

It sounds good for many to say don't trade them now for futures, wait until the offseason and then trade those guys for actual pieces.  Well, sometimes the 'futures' that you get for them now can be just as valuable in the offseason as the actual players are.

If another team has an injury or has a hole to fill now when they are currently in a playoff push, the futures you take might have MORE value if you hold them to the offseason than the actuall player will, because a team making a trade with you might be more desperate for help right now.

It takes two to tango.

If you're a UFA or RFA for the Sabres, why would you sign during the season?

If you're a UFA, would you stay, or just use Adams as leverage on other teams to get a better deal elsewhere? (And note: a better deal could be slightly less money or term, but on a team with a real chance at the playoffs.)

If you're a RFA -- you can look into offer sheets or arbitration, and possibly expedite your getaway.

Adams might be here forever, but if you're a player, you only get one short run at a championship.

I traded in my Samsung S21 for a new S25 today.  Does that count?

Up to s25s now?

It doesn't seem that long ago that I got my Galaxy S3.

The day I got it, my cousin came over and my cousin and my wife were laughing and making fun of me for getting such a ridiculous huge phone (it had I think a 4.8 inch screen)

Funny, I just traded a Iphone 12pro for a 16 pro.  Needed a better camera for grandchild photos. (better battery life doesn't hurt either).

“We Haven’t. done Anything” should be the Sabres new motto

A team which hired a veteran HC and started the season with a mandate to make the playoffs is now in last place and has made not trades all season.

The apathy from leadership, who I suspect really has little authority continues to defy logic.

Maybe there's no deadline deal to make...but after this season a message must be sent.

The issue with trading for futures at this point is 2 fold:

1. The kids need to learn how to be pros at this level and there are precious few guys that have been around / have been a part of a winner at this level that sending the few they have out the door quite possibly lengthens that learning curve even more - so is the SLIGHTLY better player they end up with or slightly better fit to where the holes on this roster exist worth the increase in the learning curve on how to be a pro at this level?

And

2. Does anybody fully expect that Adams will be able to work a 2 moving part trade to the Sabres net advantage at this point in time?

Both of those make a trade for futures at this moment "no bueno" IMHO.

If we lose our FAs and get nothing back, you can stick a fork in us for many more years to come.

What do you think the cumulative haul will be for Zucker, Greenway, NAK, Joki, Bryson & Gilbert?  Two second round picks and a couple 5ths maybe.  I honestly doubt they deal even half of those players.  Two of them should be on the roster next season.

Zucker and Greenway are the only players on that list that matter.  Both should have been re-signed by now, but aren’t.  Just another reminder of the great Kevyn Adams.

Greenway, Joki, and Zucker could all get something decent but I'd rather see them signed.

We have many mediocre guys that bring very little to the table but might entice another team such as Jack Quinn, Henri Jokiharju, Dennis Gilbert, Kubel, Bryson, Krebs. I heard Greenway would be open to re-signing with us this morning on WGR. I also heard the same about Zucker about a week ago on WGR also. re-sign those 2 and Peterka and get rid of all the above with the thinking of who cares if it's for 5th rounders at this point.

Why are we throwing away Jack Quinn?  If people are worried about players moving elsewhere and flourishing (which is not what happened with Eichel or Reinhart as they were great players before they left but fans have a funny way of misremembering the facts), Jack Quinn would be someone I’d be extremely worried about. I haven’t seen anyone dominate the AHL like him.  He’s had a rough go the last couple of seasons but that’s obviously attributed to his injuries.  I think if he’s put on a line with actual proven NHL players, he’s going to be good.

How many NHL players get signed in March?
