I missed the game tonight. Β Saw a few snippets when it was close. Β

Was McDermott there or something? Β
Β

If Adams is GM next season I won’t go to any more games. Β I stopped going after the Pegula pep talk in Montreal. Β The only way back for me is a new regime running things and some progress. Β
Β

enough already. Β

Yep, McDermott and some of he Bills were there tonight...to witness the team vociferously booed off the ice.

Seriously, that was the loudest chorus of boos I've heard there in quite a while and the joint was 85% empty at that point.

Do they think they are a better team than the standings shows? It is all bad luck? Obviously. Can someone tell them that they create their own luck and it is what you get when working hard. Lindy ffs??!!

Maybe they pin the 5v5 gf% stats up in the room.Β

They don’t listen to Lindy. Β
Β

This team expects to lose, and they accept it.Β

Meh, same ownership and management, same result. Not surprising at all. I’ve stopped watching them at all now. Stopped buying gear for myself or as gifts for others.

Really a sad state of affairs in the Sabres organization. But, we’ve said this for how many years now?

So, a game between the worst teams in each conference didn’t seem to be much of a draw as there were lots of blue seats visible. Β You even had the β€œEcho Idiots” with their calls with it being so empty.

After watching this game, which team do you think has the brighter future?!

Β

I had to watch San Jose broadcast and it was interesting to hear their announcers talk about how surprising it is that the Sabres as a team are so bad defensively when they have two #1 overall picks in Dahlin and Power and another top pick in Byram.

I wonder what the math is now for us to make the playoffs. Lol I know we still have a couple diehards on here that will be busily running the numbers πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Adams fired a popular coach, preached accountability, spoke about the importance of taking the next step, and then promptly ran a sham head coach search that was solely intended to lead to the hiring of Ruff, the one veteran coach who, because of his history with the franchise, Adams and Pegula knew would accept a two year deal and would be open to keeping the existing assistants. I’m sure our players saw this for what it was: a farce. Then we went into this make or break year with the youngest roster in the league. Then, Adams would not stop talking about how he is trying to make a big trade, letting the players know they are not good enough. Then, when things got rough during the steak, the owner tells the team that there won’t be any big trades. Frankly, our players deserve medals for what they put up with.Β

Some good points although the popular coach really needed to go. Β  The coach search was a sham. Β All it’s done is make me think less of Lindy, which is not fair I know.Β

Anyone still blame Eichel for wanting out? Β Once that happened Reinhart leaving was automatic. Β

If you are Tage and Dahlin you have to be wanting to leave.Β

Kevyn started it by giving Samson a second bridge deal, only one year.Β  That was the signal that another rebuild was in the offing, that was why Jack wanted out.Β  The neck thing was the justification and was exploited by both sides to make his trade inevitable, but Jack didn't want to be part of another rebuild and not locking up Sam was the first shoe to drop, not Eichel wanting out.Β  Reinhart was essentially kicked off the team by Kevyn.

Tage will be next.Β  He'll want out.

I know there’s the home town team boy story, but I really don’t like TuchΒ

Why? Β What did he do to you? Β

What exactly about his game don’t you like? Β The 30 goal pace? The work ethic? Β The two way game? Β

I can think of 20 other players on this roster that contribute less. Β

True on the one deal. Β It was a red flag. Adam’s going on the road trip to spy on the team was another red flag. Β

Coaching, I still don't know if its the coaching or the players not listening. Either way its a problem.Β  I did something I haven't done in a while and went back and looked at all the goals allowed last night.

I don't see a huge lack of effort out there. I don't see players that don't care. What I do see is players who are out of position quite a bit, players that don't know what their linemates are doing, players who have little sense of where the opposition is, and some below-average goaltending.

-1st goal:Β  Strange formation to line up in. Byram lines up on the right wing slot, both wingers line up to the left of Cozens at center.Β  Once the puck was dropped its was like they were all scrambling to get back to their 'traditional' positions. Cozens eventually looks like he wants to go to the right wing for coverage but he and the defender set a 'pick' making it hard for Byram to get back into the play to what looked like his spot.Β  Basically when you look at the replay, they were lined up for the faceoff differently than where they went after the faceoffs, and the 'keystone cops' of them getting into different positions gave San Jose enough time to score.Β  Total disorganization and a case of making things more complicated than it needs to be.

-2nd goal:Β  I put this on Greenway or Quinn or both, not sure if its a mistake or coaching. Greenway goes to cover the area right in front of UPL, but guess what, 2 D-men were already there. Instead of 'hanging back' to keep coverage on the trailer, he (as the forward) left that wide open He MIGHT have been watching #10, but then who is watching the slot behind him. It was a Cozen-like play, where the forward goes to where the D-men have full coverage already and leave opposing players wide open in the slot. Quinn was kinda floating behind the play and came in late.Β  Its hard to say just sloppy coverage, or no real play by the forward to help out in the D-zone, they kinda just 'pick up who is in front of them' with no plan behind it.

-3rd goal: UPL. They were chasing a bit, but nothing that doesn't happen often at some point to any team. There was a bit of a screen, but that is on UPL. Your goalie simply can't let in shots like that from that angle.

-4th goal:Β  This one is tough. Maybe not a big mistake but Greenway goes to the boards and has a shot at getting the puck, if not getting the puck at least getting his stick to it before the San Jose Guy. He ignores the puck and looks to throw the body and make a check. The San Jose player gladly took the hit and pushed the puck into the corner, where it is continued to be controlled by San Jose. If Greenway tried to play the puck (he literally IGNORED the puck to 'follow though' on a hit), the whole play may not happened.Β  Might be a case of knowing when to throw the hit, or when to play the puck. In this case he threw the hit and gave up a chance to play the puck....3-5 seconds later the puck was in the net.

-Quinn. 3 on one, why did it happen? Clifton had control of the puck, had an opening and went in deep to the goal line. Simple stuff here, the winger on his side has to go back and cover his spot. That was Quinn. Didn't happen. 3 on one the other way and puck in the net.

Quinn isn't noticable all that much game to game, probably because he plays wing, but his positional coverage continues to be awful.

A lot of people say +/- is a faulty stat, but you know what?Β  Without looking at +/- is clear the Quinn and Cozens are two of the worst players in the league with their positioning and defensive zone coverage without the puck...and in this case their +/- backs it up.

This team is a bunch of GD SNOWFLAKES and they disgust me. Seasons cancelled, F this bunch of GD LOSERS! I've never seem a more dysfunctional organization. The Buffalo Sabres are the worst run organization in all of professional sports and the cherry on top is the actual players might be even worse than the front office. What a GD joke!

I'm chilling in Iceland right now, wore my sabres hat yesterday and had a couple Europeans chuckle at that.Β

It's around 3am and was just awake looking for the elusive aurora when I popped on to SS, didn't realize they played again so soon after the Montreal beat downs.Β

6-2 to the Sharks, at home. Ouchhhh

Curious why the Europeans were laughing. Were they aware of Buffalo's playoff drought, or was it how the logo amused them?

Why are you curious as to why they were laughing? The Sabres are the biggest joke around!

I'd also be curious because I would think the general populaton of a country like Iceland would not know enough about the NHL and the Sabres to be laughing at someone who is simply wearing a hat.

In our own country, I do not think people openly laugh,or even smirk, at someone wearing a Sabres hat/jersey, Jets jersey, etc.
