I mean there is absolutely no reason for Adams to keep his job. None. The decision on him will tell us everything we need to know.

If Adams is fired I think there might be some hope depending on the hire. But if Adams is retained then Pegula has absolutely no desire to turn this around or to compete.

I would love to know where Ventura and this lauded Analytics group fit into all this because either they are being completely ignored or they are vastly overrated.

They are desperate for a veteran NHL exec. Let’s just hope Pegula finally has the appetite for it.

I'm ready to blow it all up again.  The owner, the GM, the coach, all the players.  Blow it up.

I can’t get there myself.  This all sucks right now, but I don’t see any sense in blowing up the youngest roster in the league when the only way out of this is drafting and developing.

While our GM is inept, players better than guys like Tage & Tuch are not coming here due to trade protection and no interest in free agency.  If you blow it up now, you’ll just get even younger.

My vision of the future:

1 team jumps them in the draft lottery. Let's say Philadelphia. Sabres draft 6th overall. To everyone's dismay, they select Frondell over Eklund. To my dismay, they take Frondell over "Star" Desnoyers.

Somehow, GM Sheevyn returns.

They get JJP on a big long-term contract (>$7M). They bridge all the remaining RFAs because no one is willing to sign to term.

Stay the course, says Adams. We'll all be a year older!

There is no need to blow it up and go further backwards. The owner needs to fire the GM or give him another task (facilities manager?) and empower a competent person to take over the position. He gambled on an unqualified person due to financial considerations more than hockey considerations. It ended up blowing up in his face. If he allows a qualified person to do the job without interference, this franchise would be in such a better place. As it stands, this team has talent on the roster and within the system. What's missing is how to manage one's assets and how to address one's liabilities. A capable person who is allowed to do the challenging GM job can quickly steer this franchise back on course.

So, because the young guys we forced to play so soon are now officially stunted as far as their growth - most should be traded.

Because no one on this team of significance knows how to win.

So I’d be making a lot of trades for players under team control and draft assets and completely start again.

You need a core to build around.

Here is my core I’d keep:

Dahlin

Benson

Kulich

Ok so knowing that I’d trade everything else.  And if Rasmus wants no part of it then I’d trade him too.

We can completely rebuild a good team in 2-3 seasons.  Maybe emerge with a few top 3-5 picks in the process.

This all has to be done under new management of course.

Add to the kids playing well in Rochester.

That’s how I see it.

No indication from Pegula that Adams is not meeting expectations.

Fully expect Adams to be back.  All the talk about "accountability" was a lie...Pegula cares about the bottom line and loyalty, NOT the fans.

We'll get more lip service about how the team is "close" and it's important to stay the course.

If you're willing to jettison Thompson and the contract he's on, you're going need to walk out the same door as Adams.

Sell the team.

Nothing else matters.

Agreed. The Pegulas more or less hit the lottery with McBeane on the Bills' side of things, but their Sabres moves have not worked out, and they don't have the bandwidth to do anything about it. I know Terry wants better for the franchise and is willing to spend the money, but nothing has worked so far. Time to give someone else a shot.

Adams will be back.

Pretty much this.

Lindy will be able to bring in some new assistants and they will market this as the change.

Appert and Ellis probably survive though
