Not necessarily. Adams could purposely overvalue the players that teams are inquiring about

I did not think it was possible, but this lineup looks worse than last year. Rebuild is not even the proper term, they have to blow this thing up so much that we can’t even recognize the team next season.

I slightly disagree. There are exceptions to most apparent rules

In most metrics, goals for vs goals allowed, possession, high danger chances, plus-minus, there has been a whole list of them posted on this forum, the current roster is equal to or in many cases somewhat better than they have been last year.

How is that possible?Jack Quinn. Dylan Cozens.  A drop off in play from your goaltending.

In most other ways other than those 3 things, this team is an above average team. A team that scores more than they allow. A team that is equal to or better than last year.  It is just those 3 players, mostly the first two, that have sunk the team this year compared to previous seasons.

It’s professional sports, meaning it’s a business.  You don’t let assets get away without anything in return.  I agree that this team needs more veterans, but unless you’re willing to overpay Greenway and Zucker….they’re not coming back.  Letting them walk away for nothing is poor asset management.  More draft picks may not be what we need, but they are better than getting nothing at all.

I just don’t see much happening. We are in need of roster players not draft picks at this stage. I doubt playoff teams want to give up actual players.

You're a bottom feeder team so any good GM makes offers to anybody he wants to keep and then they take them or they don't. If they don't, you move them at the deadline for whatever you can get and then if you want to you can circle back to them in July. You most definitely do not keep a UFA who remains unsigned because he said he'd like to stay or something. That's dumb. If he wants to stay, and you want him, sign him now. 

KA however is not a good GM.

Greenway, Cozens, Joker and Samuelsson should all be moved IMO. I'd love a top 4 RHD to pair with Power on the second pair. Maybe a veteran #2 Goalie to share time with UPL or mentor Levi next seasons. A 3rd line Center who can lead be a strong penalty killer. I'm also okay moving on from Quinn if get a NHL player back but don't want him gone as much as the first 4.

He should have been out during the 13 game skid.  Sadly he isn’t going anywhere.  
 

The shopping list won’t change even with a new GM unless Adams or his eventual successor makes the right decisions.  The needs though are obvious.  This list: 1) 2 RHD stay at home D for the top 4. 2) A top 6 playmaker, preferably a center. 3) More physical players.  It’s really not a long list, but accomplishing it will be difficult.  It will involve moving on from some young highly drafted players like Cozens, Byram or Power.  It will involve moving picks or prospects for NHL players and it will involve buying out or retaining money from bad contracts like Samuelsson.  It also may involve having a GM being able to sell vets with NTCs/NMCs on his vision for the future.  No way on G-ds green Earth does Adams have the skills and the guts to do what must be done.

Pegula still hasn't publicly stated that EEE is over. Adams will be the GM for as long as the owner is happy with the communication.

In the Pegula era, the on-ice product has never been the cause of removing the GM. Maybe Regier could be argued, but they're purposefully tanking, so getting a new GM is simply part of tearing things down and setting a new beginning.
