Young team! They will

get better

Just because young players will get better certainly doesn’t guarantee that the team will be better. It takes a lot more than a few good players to make the team better.

again the Sabres had great young players a few years back and it certainly didn’t make the team better did it?

That's been the problem for years. You have to build a team.

So true. They have never built the team correctly and I don’t agree how Adams/TP are trying to build this team, on the cheap.

They tried that rebuild on the fly thing with Kane.  I don't think it was necessarily a bad idea?  I just was never a big fan of the player or the price they paid to acquire him.  Neither him nor Bogo had the leadership acumen, especially at the age they were brought in.

Doesn’t mean they won’t be good either. I’m hoping they are. I think they will

Smashing sticks and it’s only the 2nd period.

Byram doesn’t play much defense.

It looks like Power’s mistake at first (and he certainly doesn’t play it well) but only because Byram’s play was so unfathomably bad you can’t see him at first

sitting around playing Pokémon in the corner for reasons best known to himself

The Sabres had 7 losses to give in the rush to 91. Just keep winning 3 between losses.

6 playoff misses to give before we miss 20 straight

Big picture: We are bottom of the east and 4th from bottom overall. We somehow are out of the playoff race in a year where almost every team in the east still has a shot.

The team averaged 76 points per season over Adams’ first 4 seasons

The Sabres are pacing for, checks notes….*76 points* this season.

Do we think, maybe, we are a 76 point team under Adams?

Whoda thunk anyone would pine for the ‘11-12 Sabres?

UPL definitely isn’t playing like a #1. Lindy did him a huge solid pulling him after 2 goals to help his sv%

The move was first to wake his team up, good teams respond to a goalie change. Good teams know what lever the coach pulled and respond.

Normally I would agree with you but I feel Lindy saw quickly (like the rest of us) that the game wasn’t going to end well. UPL is in the bottom half of the league when it comes to his stats.

Ruff was not protecting UPLs stats.  He was trying to win a game. Quickly down 2-0, he was sending a message to his team to wake up.  We have seen opposing teams do this numerous times, and beat the Sabres.

You can believe otherwise, but this was a message to the team, a message not received.

Would you not like to have those players now?  Forum talks about grit and vets.  Those two fit the bill.
