Can't invade Canada and sell out Ukraine when a career general would tell you no. He will appoint a loyalists.

I’ve said it before but it bears repeating after this move by Trump and that is will military leadership do their duty to the Constitution and fulfill their obligation to countermand illegal orders, especially if it should mean refusing to target US citizens.

Now I’m sure I’ll be accused of overreacting and I hope that’s proved right eventually, but we won’t know until we know for sure. Trump himself doesn’t care about his oath as he runs roughshod over the Constitution, so why wouldn’t he demand the same in his military leadership. FFS, some in the military were OK with Michael Flynn’s idea to seize voting machines in 2020. I don’t think my concern is unjustified at this stage.

The last four CJCS assumed their positions on either 30 September or 1 October. Guessing it has to do with a fiscal year thing. Here’s a little background on the guy Trump nominated.

F-16 Fighter Pilot.

Special Operations Experience.

CIA Associate Director for Military Affairs.

As for why, no reason has been provided yet. Operationally that background in SpecOps and CIA might have something to do with it. Apparently during Trumps first term he had a more aggressive response towards dealing with ISIS which Trump liked.

So he's less qualified than the guy trump just fired.

Interesting, you had the new guys record on hand but not the previous. Here's Browns bio, hope it doesn't vanish too quickly. Trump likes to bury proof of his incompetence.

Wow. I’m the first one to provide background on a personality involved but that still wasn’t enough for you. So weird.

Here’s the guy who got nominated.

As I said, he's less qualified and doesn't even meet the statutory requirements for the position.

Trump also fired several other high ranking military members.

I also am lead to believe that the person must be an active military member, which from my current understanding they are not.

It won't matter. Just wanted to note it.

His bio does not reflect any of those assignments. The previous guy was the Air Force Chief of Staff.

This is not in response to Brown specifically, just in general.

The Army has a finite number of MTOE slots for every MOS of every rank. Typically, the higher your rank, the fewer slots there are.

I know they went to a different retirement system since I retired back in 14, but I think for most of the senior personnel they'd still fall under the pension plan. Once you hit 20 years you receive 50% of your base pay as your retirement pension. For every year you serve after that you receive an additional 2.5%, which would be 75% after 30 years and so forth. Many people hold on for the money and don't want to retire.

What this would lead to is a backlog of soldiers with a promotable status not being able to move up in rank. The further down the line you go the bigger the backlog was. We had alot of sergeants and staff sergeants that were forced out for meeting their retention control point because a slot never opened up for them to be promoted into.

If we approach this from the idea Trump never plans to leave power and wants yes men, it makes logical sense.

If we approach it from the idea Hagseth is a sexist and racist who hates JAGs, it makes prefect sense. Hagseth called JAG "JAGoffs" in his book.

If we look at this from the overall idea that Trump wants yes men and has put completely unqualified tools who will do his bidding on positions of power, it makes all the sense in the world. That's the only way hacks like Hagseth and RFK jr end up anywhere.

I wonder when even questioning things like this, wondering outloud if this is what's happening, will be prosecuted.
