During a superbowl interview he doubled down on being serious about Canada becoming the 51st state.

Also trump is hitting Canada and others with a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum. During the signing of this latest round of tariffs, trump reiterated the 51st state comments.

I would imagine they would be pissed... and also concerned.  I'm not even sure how that would happen.  I don't see Canada just agreeing to this so what's left, an invasion?

The US has not made Puerto Rico a state in all these years, but then again, they don't have oil like Canada does.

If someone found a livable planet.. I'd be on the first ship.

Invading Canada would trigger article 5 of NATO.

So would invading Greenland. But once again the media is getting sucked into his bat$hit crazy rhetoric instead of focusing on the actual threats to our democracy.

A top White House adviser said Canada becoming the 51st state remains a consideration following a meeting with premiers where the Canadian leaders were cautioned to take U.S. President Donald Trump at his word.

“They (white house advisor Sergio Gor) committed to share our message of willingness to engage and to work on key areas of agreement, and that Canada would never be the 51st state,” said British Columbia Premier David Eby as he left the White House on Wednesday.

"Any invasion of Canada by the United States Federal Government would sever any and all ties the individual States have to the Federal Government"

I don't take the 51st state stuff seriously. I think it's stupid and don't see his endgame with it, but I think it's nonsense.

Trump declares a trade war with Canada for no reason other than his own stupidity.

The CBP's own data registered a 97 per cent drop in January compared to December 2024 at the northern border — evidence, the Canadian government says, that its $1.3-billion border security package is already bearing fruit.

Even before these new efforts, Canada represented less than one per cent of all seized fentanyl imports into the U.S., according to federal data.

The border security agreement that was already going into effect and supposedly the great and wise moron himself got Canada to agree with, is working. But tariffs are starting tomorrow anyways.

Note he calls Prime Minister Trudeau "governor" here because as Trudeau noted today, "that will make it easier to annex us"

You will never see right wing media mention any of these statistics. EVERY economist who researched the impacts of Trump’s economic agenda leading up to the election predicted a disaster. When even the likes of Goldman Sachs predicts your plans will be harmful to the economy, perhaps you should take note.

You quoted me, but I don't think your bluesky paste answered my question, I really am curious if it's possible to bankrupt Canada through tariffs.

Why would you be curious about that? The answer is probably yes but why are you curious about it?
