A good portion of Canada (half? maybe, I don't know) might vote for him if they had him as an option. It is more ANYONE or ANY country that talks your country down, attacks your leadership (even if YOU don't like your leadership, its ok for you to pick on them but not an oursider to pick on them) or certainly anyone talking/threatening/suggesting that you give up your status as an independant nation....there is going to be outrage against that. Whether its Trump, or if Biden said it, or Macron, Olaf Sholz or Putin.....ally or not....Anyone that says those things is going to elicit a booing response. Sorry but he would get 20% of the vote at most he is extremely disliked by Canadians in general. 1 Quote

Flash is talking about everyday Canadians going to NHL games and they are booing the American national anthem in Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, and Ottawa. This is directly attributed to the political climate. This is 100% true. Tariffs are one thing but talking about Canada becoming the 51st state has a lot of us riled up 1 minute ago, Pimlach said: Joker puts a floater by a surprised Hellebuck (sp). And it’s not just the tariffs it’s the threats of making Canada the 51st State. Canadians think he is insane enough to invade. I don't think anyone thinks he will use military power to invade us but he we certainly use economic force. 1 Quote
ubkev Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 We go from the awful roster ribbon at the bottom of the screen to awful player name icons following the puck, back to the awful roster ribbon. Quote

Sure if those other leaders said the stuff Trump did Canadians would be upset but those other leaders never were stupid enough to say the stuff that comes out of Trump’s mouth. The easiest way to explain it to Americans is that our Conservative Party aligns closely to the Democratic Party. The liberal party would be considered left of the Democratic Party, while the NDP is considered socialist and has a fair following in pockets of Canada. Especially in bigger cities yes we do have far right leaning people here too They call themselves the "fringe", drive pick up trucks with ***** Trudeau slapped on them. Not sure the% they would represent but I think it would be fairly small I will say, as a Canadian , I'm pissed at Trump (though I've always hated him). You have to remember the "worst trade agreement" he has ever seen was done by him during his last term. Also important is that the US does not subsidize Canada. When he says Subsidies, he means trade deficit. And there is a trade deficit because due to energy supplied to the US. He says subsidy because he knows it will rile up his base, thinking that the US is giving us money to survive. anyways. Sorry for politics. back to hockey. Go Canada! And the Sabres players! oh I will say I hate the booing of the athem. Both countries have fought many wars together and have lost a lot of young men in the process. Never should the Athem or the flag be disrespected by either country. chant "***** trump" all you want but don't boo the athem and sorry for the long post 2 1 Quote

Pimlach Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 Why are these ESPN guys so surprised that Finland is playing well? It’s a crazy message to think they wouldn’t, especially since they have a defense first hockey culture. These are All Star teams with 3 days of practice. Quote

In his career, Joker has had a habit of getting weaker shots through to the front of the net. It’s not a bad skill to have for a 3rd pair guy. And yes, I still think he’ll be a solid and responsible 5/6 on a playoff team this season. 1 Quote
Pimlach Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 Can someone shut Steve Levy up? Just let Gretzky provide more hockey analysis and let PK do his a Bisonette imitation. That would be better. 1 minute ago, DarthEbriate said: In his career, Joker has had a habit of getting weaker shots through to the front of the net. It’s not a bad skill to have for a 3rd pair guy. SABRES 0311 Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 According to ChatGPT, the current number of NHL players by country is: Canada: 434 players United States: 208 players Sweden: 106 players Finland: 50 players Russia: 40 players Czech Republic: 38 players The next highest is Switzerland with 12 players in the NHL. So unless there is a significant change in demographics, this tournament could max out at six teams. Would still be fun to watch. 1 Quote
