Players like Dahlin and Thompson have to put the team on their backs. Leadership and hating to loose has to emerge. Start winning and players will think differently about coming here. What I meant was there's is no easy fix to the Sabres reputation/situation. But I agree with all your points. This team has enough talent to be in the playoff mix. Why they can't/don't play like it is a mystery to me. I thought bringing Ruff back would establish a baseline of expectations. Granato coddled these guys? Ruff will whip em into shape. But that hasn't happened. Quote

You viewed it thru a strictly binary, good or bad lens. Lack of objectivity often prevents us from seeing the bigger picture. It happens. Do you understand what the word means in this context? If you saw the original Sinead O’Connor performance that got her banned and ostracized for tearing up the pope’s picture, then it should be readily apparent as to why SNL chose to have that song performed. What SNL was saying is up to Lorne Michaels and others to explain definitively, but I saw it as a huge apology and admittance that they got it wrong 30 some odd years ago. I appreciate your comments on her original appearance and Cyrus's tribute song. What you point out is that in hindsight, after many years have passed and more is learned, there is a better understanding what Sinead's perspective was regarding the pope and the church. History gives us a fuller and better understanding of a situation than our immediate reactions to what at the time was considered a provocative act. The knowledge we have now regarding the ingrained evils of the abuses well known within the institution of the church, and not so well known outside of it. Very often victims are not heard when they cry out. But after time has passed and more is learned the victims are finally listened to and heard. Quote

To the second paragraph that's simply what I was wondering. Was it an apology? It was oblique enough I'm not sure and yes, I suppose you'd have to ask Lorne Michaels or maybe Miley Cyrus. To the first, it's the failure to recognize you don't have it any more. Paul singing Beatles stuff there was like Jerry Rice trying to play football well past the end of his career. Just sad to watch. Being there or being involved sure, but as the end musical guest no. Keith Richards was there. He just asked about a scarf for his appearance. Maybe Paul Simon should have just opened the show in a turkey costume. Paul? You know what would have been great? If Paul made up a little ditty honoring Don Novello (Father Guido Sarducci) that made reference to being stoned like a Koala Bear. Remember that one? You know the show should have probably opened with Chevy Chase falling out of his wheelchair, but some people know when they are too old for something as he'd probably not be able to get back up. Let's just agree to disagree on this. 1 Quote

Show them what class looks like and shove it right back in their face the proper way. Then I hope we run them through the boards from start to finish. This has been great for hockey and I am thinking about driving to Boston tomorrow! I couldn’t bring myself to attend in person due to my PTSCD, Post Traumatic Sidney Crosby Disorder. That guy beats us in the biggest moments. I hope the US wins, but I’m not expecting it. Maybe Helle can steal one. 🤞 1 Quote

The NHL always feels like a crapshoot of when the game might start, depending on pre-game ceremonies, anthems or what have you. Quote

SabresBillsFan Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM (edited) As I have said in the past just because Hockey is Canada’s sport eventually other countries catch up. Just look at baseball in the US. Many other countries are producing Stars in all sports. When you start looking at population numbers and the sport taking off in the US it’s only a matter of time.
