I wouldn't doubt the Canadian players feel a greater sense of nationalism due to the stature hockey has in their culture vs the US. But... I'd be VERY surprised if Donald Trump's tariff threats are a factor at all to most if not all of them. Quote

Flash is talking about everyday Canadians going to NHL games and they are booing the American national anthem in Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, and Ottawa. I think there is a subtle difference between "Trump" and "the threats" I don't think the booing has much to do with Trump simply being president. A good portion of Canada (half? maybe, I don't know) might vote for him if they had him as an option. It is more ANYONE or ANY country that talks your country down, attacks your leadership (even if YOU don't like your leadership, its ok for you to pick on them but not an oursider to pick on them) or certainly anyone talking/threatening/suggesting that you give up your status as an independant nation....there is going to be outrage against that. Whether its Trump, or if Biden said it, or Macron, Olaf Sholz or Putin.....ally or not....Anyone that says those things is going to elicit a booing response. 1 Quote

Game 1 of an All Star team, the coaches are figuring it out. Listening to Hamilton and Marty I get the opposite feel on Dahlin. He played well but they played him on the 3rd pair. They played Karlsson more and he was the cause for 2 goals, including the game winner. Karlsson is a poor defensive defenseman and they paid for that decision. Quote

I don't think you can use the information you had to justify anything. It was the call of the Swedish coaching staff. Meh. They were wrong. Brodin also completely overplayed the 2 on 1 to allow Marchand to literally tap the puck into the net. Dahlin should have been on the ice more than he was. The fact that he was not is not because he's bad but because I am sure the coach is enamored with his Swedish defensive "heroes". It matters not to me. What I know is Sweden didn't win. 3 Quote

Most of the players on the Sabres are still not at their peak potential, or even close to it (Cozens, Peterka, Powers, Byram, Benson, Kulich). How many players do you think should be on these rosters from the youngest team in the league? IMO Tage, Dahlin, and UPL should be, with the latter making it due to a smaller pool of goalies for the Swedes to pick from. That is 3 players. Joker got lucky and I hope he looks amazing so some desparate GM can overpay for him in a trade. That is 4 this year, and only 3 were actually selected. An optimist might say a couple years from now the Sabres could have 6-8 players that SHOULD be selected in a series like this. I'm not that optimist, but I'd like to be... Quote

Did that continue the rest of the game? Overall Sweden got better as the game went on and they forced an OT. I didn’t see it but Hamilton implied that Karlsson was a liability on defense. I can go with the thought that Forsling is the best of that bunch right now, he is 28 and in his prime, Dahlin is still only 24. I would not trade Dahlin for any of the Swede defensemen straight up. 1 Quote
