Andrew Amerk Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 Don’t think Dahlin saw one second of ice time in OT. Quote
KC Scouts Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 Give the Swedes credit, They fought hard to get back into the game... 1 Quote
Flashsabre Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 Great hockey. no idea why the Swedes wouldn’t play Dahlin in OT unless he’s hurt Quote

Flashsabre Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 To show how well the Sabres have been run, Brandon Hagel was out for multiple shifts in OT for Canada. GM Botts didn’t even think he was worth an entry level deal at a time when the Sabres needed forwards in the system. 1 2 1 Quote

mjd1001 Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 What would the cap of these teams be? From Capwages.com: Quote

Broken Ankles Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 1 hour ago, mjd1001 said: What would the cap of these teams be? From Capwages.com: Almost lockstep with betting lines. The one deviation is that Canada holds a slight advantage over the US in futures. Although the line started with the US +170 and it’s now down to +145. With the cap numbers being an imperfect measure of talent, having the best goaltender in the world is the tiebreaker for me. Quote

mjd1001 Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 I watched the game on and off last night. Saw most of it I guess. Without analyzing Dahlin's play all that much, he looked like he 'belonged' there but didn't stand out. I didn't see a supertar on the ice, but I did see a player who looked like he should at least share the ice with the other great players. Quote

Defended him with a poke check really well on another. He was frustrating McDavid all night No power play time…if the coach gave him the ice time he deserves he’d have stood out even more. Considering opponent…I won’t say impressive - it’s what I’ve come to expect from RD Edited February 13 by Thorner Quote

He is s PPG player and tied for 9th in the league in goals, despite playing on a really bad team. Anyone know why he was overlooked? Imagine all the giveaways to the other team he would have? Quote

I don't really think of Thompson as a player that has a ton of giveways from my observations watching the game. I know when the team is losing, the ones he has get POINTED OUT a lot more than when other players do, I'm guessing they think he is a high paid star so his play will be more scrutinized, but I don't see it. A quick look at the stats: Thompson is 14th on the team in total giveaways, and the 2nd best (lowest) when you take ice time into consideration. (the only player who has less giveaways per 60 than Thompson is Greenway, and Thompson handles the puck a lot more). So yeah, when he does have a giveaway people are going to notice it and point it out, but he is one the best players on the team statistically at not giving the puck away, and my personal 'eye test' confirms that. Who Else? Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 Sabres' best player got 17:15 of ice time in a 74 minute game. Zero pp or pk time. Pretty Much the same as Brodin who had a goal and a higher +/-. The Swedish roster carries 7 defensemen. It looks like the Sabres' "Superstar" is the most likely be a healthy scratch, when Andersson comes in. Put that in perspective. Our best offensive player seems not to even have gotten a sniff of the USA roster. As per the broadcast last night, it seems UPL will probably not see the ice. Quote
