Have Dylan Cozens & Mattias Samuelsson been stripped of their “A”s

Internet rumor mongering suggests these two no longer have “A”s.  I, for one, don’t believe it.  Discuss.  
 

 

15. The Sabres have won four in a row, but we will see if there is any long-term fallout from Sunday, when Stefan Noesen’s hit on Tage Thompson went unaddressed. One player on another team said he heard from a friend on Buffalo that there was talk of the leadership group and/or alternate captaincies being switched over what didn’t happen. What a gamer, Dennis Gilbert. Fought Mathieu Olivier three seconds into Tuesday's game to make everyone look better. Not easy.

Maybe, but I can't see it happening.  It makes the organization look a lot more dysfunctional, unless they have been 'stripped' of them simply because their is a trade imminent. Even then, why strip them when they 'automatically' are gone if they are moved.

Ambivalent about Cozens. 

Seen more than enough of Samuelson. Called for him to be moved over a year ago. He has no business wearing an “A”, imo.

An injury-prone player who only makes the effort of an on ice team leader when he is feeling some heat from Ruff, coaches, and fans.

It does not make any sense to change or remove letters mid season. What end does it serve?

If the players in question are that much of an issue, bench them, trade them. Make the letter moves in the offseason.

Neither of them should have had A’s to begin with.  Stupid decision to have 4 A’s and these two were not deserving of any of them.  TNT and Tuch makes sense, but I hope the rumor is true about Cozens and Muel.

Muel and Tage are the home game alternate captains.  

Since Muel & Tage were both out injured on Tuesday, the Sabres didn’t have an alternate captain on the ice. But none of that means someone got stripped of a letter. Publicly embarrassing a player by stripping a letter mid-season would mean game-over for that player in that locker room.  
The time for changes like that is in the offseason.

Win streak? wtf does that matter? Nothing personal but the way Ruff and others are talking about the importance of wins now is a joke. There is absolutely no chance of catching the playoff teams. None. These are bs moral victories that mean nothing. The season has been over for ages..

Now to the rumor, "leadership group"? Who is that exactly? The letters I guess but who else? Tuch? Lots of teams want him. Zucker? A one year mercenary playing for his next deal. Who are we going to change the leadership group to?

I can see Samuelsson and Cozens being traded over this to make a statement but they've lowered their value and stripping the letters would lower it even more. I guess if you eat salary or take on other salary you could move Muel to somebody who thinks they can fix him and Cozens is young enough for some to believe in a ceiling but just stripping them of the letters won't help this culture build it just scapegoats 2 guys when the whole team is at fault.

Cozens did nothing to deserve his A being stripped and taking it away during the season would be wrong and would be another bad look.  I don't think he should have got the A to begin, but that is on Lindy or Adams or both.  

Muel, another guy that did not deserve the A, should have his removed in the off season.   That may not be necessary as I do not think he will be back.

I suspect because he's slightly older than many of them and there was some wishin' and hopin' but maybe he's a "pro" in how he conducts himself off ice given his family history and they wanted some of that. Didn't want to just give it to goal scorers. idk, it's the Sabres.

Time for changes would have made sense when they lost 3-4 games in a row not when they need a miracle run at the end of the season it's more of the same with this bottom feeding franchise and it's more astonishing that people buy this charade still after going on 14 losing seasons.
