Looks like Tage and UPL are going to be back. Cozens may not play, Samuelsson is out till after break and ...

Meanwhile, Ruff said center Dylan Cozens missed Wednesday’s practice because of “a lower-body aggravation.”

“So really don’t know where he’ll be in the next couple of days,” he said. “It was bad enough to not practice.”

Defenseman Mattias Samuelsson also sat out the session with a lower-body injury.

“He won’t be available for the weekend, so we’re looking at him afterwards,” Ruff said.

Meanwhile, winger Beck Malenstyn missed practice after leaving Tuesday’s game with back spasms.

The Sabres got one forward back Wednesday. Rookie Tyson Kozak practiced after recovering from a nasty bout with the flu over the weekend.

Ruff also said winger Jordan Greenway, who has missed the last 22 games after undergoing surgery to repair a mid-body injury, is on track to return after the break. After Saturday’s road game, the Sabres play again Feb. 22.

“I watch him practice and he’s full go,” Ruff said. “I think if you needed him, if you were, let’s say this one of the biggest games, he would be knocking at your door to play. But he’s on his plan. The plan is to get him these practices before the break, put the extra work in during the break and be ready to go that first game coming out of the break.”

Jock itch can be mighty uncomfortable.

Breaking NEWS!!!! Samuelsson is injured and will miss some time...  how about we assume he is on the injured list and you put out an availability list for him instead...

I am a harsh critic of KA. However, getting Zucker and Greenway have both been quality deals. If he can add two-three similar types of players, this roster would be so much better constructed and in general better.

I actually think some of his moves have been pretty good. The Mitts for Bryam deal, at the moment, looks pretty good. The issue with Adams is not the moves that he makes, is the moves that he DOESN'T make.

A lot of people on this forum say hes so bad they don't want him making any moves. I totally disagree.  Make moves, please make them. If he's bad as a GM, its because he doesn't do enough.

BUT…..maybe he should NOT negotiate any new contracts….he really $hit himself with the long term deals.

Yeah, slightly more good than bad but....

Thompson good.  With the higher cap this will look like a very good deal.

Cozens Bad.

Dahlin...decent, but probably on the good side of things as the deal goes on. I'd shade toward the good side of things.

Power, TBD but not looking good now, but it was likely it was not going to look good in the first year or two.

Samuelsson bad.  But its such a low cost deal in the grand scheme, I can't fault a GM for taking a chance if it was only going to cost this and the thought they had something good.

So yeah, as a whole with those deals he is on the bad side of things, but I don't think its so bad that every one is a disaster.

How about we never let Kevin Adams make another hockey trade the rest of his life...

One of them should be a Dman.

A guy I used to work with always took vacation, sick days, bereavement days, personal leave etc whenever there was a need for all hands on deck. I told him to just mark down the days he would be at work on the calendar.

Many people share this sentiment.  I just don’t see TP moving on from his lap dog.

We had a guy at work who regularly came up with bereavement excuses to get off work. His family must have been miraculously sanctified because both his father and mother died twice. He was so notorious for his absurd lying to get off work that it became a joke. Sometimes these work derelicts forget that they are supposed to come to work for the purposes of working instead of evading.

Not making a move that is available is in some respects comparable to making a bad move because it is not seizing an opportunity that is available. It's like a surgeon telling a bereaved widow whose husband died on the operating table that I did everything right except I didn't do such and such when I could have. The primary reason that he hasn't been as aggressive in adding to the roster is that he has misjudged the talent on the roster and made a poor analysis of his roster with respect to how it is constructed.

I'm not going to cut this inadequate GM much slack because when you are in your fifth year as a GM and your team has been out of the playoffs for nearly a generation, I would expect that he would demonstrate more urgency to improve the team. Being lackluster in a competitive field is a recipe for falling short, again and again.

or signing.. he is utterly incompetent... I love looking at his trades in a microcosm... Mitts/Bo ok great... may look good on paper but did you actually improve your team... did you exchange assets because you acknowledged a need and acquire a player that addressed a need like a tough crunching RHD or a 2C?  I have an idea, lets go get another puck moving soft LHD.. we dont have enough of those... so yes, on paper I get it... but in the end.. the team is worse than last year...  Sorry I get the point but not buying it... the assembly and drafting and over all complexion and identity of this team is soft, uninspired, shallow, 1 dimensional, weak, fragile minded, cesspool of figure skaters... he has not shown the inclination to aggressively address this... at this point I want him addressing nothing... or we are gonna go give a huge contract to someone like Powers or Cozens or Muel.. oh wait...  just praying his team doesnt ruin Benson or Kulich..

Yes, yes, and yes. ANY OTHER GM IN THE ENTIRE NHL would have not only been fired by now for this body of work, they would have been fired 2 years ago!

The Power deal is a bad one in principal.  Eyes were raised around the league.   A classic example of GM falling in love with his draft pick and jumping the gun.    The contract was offered when he played only 88 NHL games.   There was no need to give him that much term and that many dollars when he did not earn it.  He made a very young player way too rich and way too comfortable at 21 years old.

Could it look good in 3-4 more years?   50-50 chance.
