K-9 Posted February 25 Author Report Posted February 25 1 hour ago, Hank said: Not like the AP would be bitter or anything.... The AP didn’t make up the facts in that story, so this idea that it was some sort of retribution hit piece is absurd. The AP has been the beacon of journalism since it’s inception nearly 180 years ago. It isn’t just some sensational rag with an axe to grind and the article I linked was not an editorial. Brace yourself, because as this goes on, there will be other reports from credible sources like this one, that will paint DOGE in an unfavorable light by exposing their disinformation.
K-9 Posted February 26 Author Report Posted February 26 About all that “winning continues” from Karoline Leavitt above, did she circle back later today and report that Trump “lost” three time in 90 minutes as three different federal judges ruled against him in three different cases. Nothing spells “winner” like 3 losses in 90 minutes, right Karoline? I wonder if she knows how to spell S-H-I-L-L.

I don't dispute the article. I'm guessing if I looked hard enough I could find a far right article that contradicts it. I don't care enough one way or another. While I share your opinion that the AP was once a beacon of journalism, I don't share your view that it still is. I believe it was you who said just about a week ago to take ANY article with a grain of salt. Was it the word boulder you took issue with? Semantics. The AP filed a frivolous lawsuit against the Trump administration so yes, I'll question an article the write a week later. You don't share that view, that's fine, YMMV. Moving on....

Yes, news should be vetted by us as I said. Just as this article by the AP was vetted by the reporters. You won’t find a far right article to contradict it anyway. Unless they go to the government source who provided the information to AP and they literally change the facts, which are a matter of public record. And we couldn’t disagree more on the rest of your take. Good idea to move on. But not every article by a reputable news source, confirmed by at least two sources btw, that we find uncomfortable to read because it isn’t favorable to a particular point of view is an editorial position. AP and other organizations owe it to the public they serve to report facts, especially when false information has been put out there as we’ve seen with DOGE time and time and time again.

Biden is sharp as a tack! Reports of his cognitive decline are disinformation by the right wing media!
LTS Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 9 hours ago, Hank said: Putting aside the conflict of interest, is this good or bad? I don't know anything about starlink. Starlink is serivceable for residential Internet and desperate small businesses. There is no place for it in connectivity of critical infrastructure. The performance can mimic that of decent cable broadband, but with the variability of wireless Internet. So, it's very sensitive to environmental factors and can easily be interfered with if one desired. Bottom line... no. Bad idea. 1

I've been saying repeatedly that ALL news outlets lie and cover stories unevenly based on their political leanings, or outright not cover stories. I see FOXN/CNN/MSNBC as all the same. I've never praised Fox. I've never bashed just CNN/MSNBC. I always lump them together.
K-9 Posted February 26 Author Report Posted February 26 12 hours ago, Hank said: Biden is sharp as a tack! Reports of his cognitive decline are disinformation by the right wing media! In the absence of a qualified, professional medical diagnosis then yes, it is mis/disinformation based on nothing more than conjecture. Just as the many psychological diagnoses of Trump are by people trying to make political points. But people need to have their biases confirmed and they need to glom onto any opinion for sources that supports them. As a result, any honest debate on various subjects is rendered impossible. People point to Biden’s dismal debate performance as evidence of cognitive impairment but that’s been debunked as we learned he was actually ill at the time and a short time later tested positive for covid and underwent treatment. People should acquaint themselves with the difference between the natural slowing of thought processes as we age vs. cognitive impairment. While certainly slower than he once was, Biden is still not impaired. 1
