And Eveson has them playing really well, the whole team. Love Lindy, but would rather have had Dean. I know his playoff record is bad, but...baby steps. He iced some really good Wild teams and now is doing wonders with a CBJ team with a ton of youngsters that was expected to be bottom of the league again.

Malenstyn has thrown a hit. Cozens has been physical if ineffective at it. But beyond the staged fight, this team would still let Hasek get run and not respond.

Two years ago the Sabres were the team on the rise and CBJ was terrible.  Today they are in the 8th spot and the Sabres are terrible. 
 

It would be interesting to compare the moves of the two teams.

Another issue with Cozens game.  He has taken 7 more penalties than he has drawn...worst among forwards.

Benson has taken more penalties (17 to Cozens's 14) but Benson has drawn a LOT more than Cozens (19 to 7)

FYI, Greenway, Malenstyn, and Krebs are the best on the team in terms of drawing penalties to put the team on the PP without taking many to put them SH.

One thing I think they don’t do or have done is much in the way of maximum term contracts.  Some of their guys are signed for maybe another 3 or 4 years, but I don’t think they have much of anything in terms of 7 or 8 year deals.

They were still terrible last year with a lot of the same players. They ran Jarmo out of town on a rail because he was viewed as a miserable failure of a GM. It's amazing what the right coaching hires can do for a young roster.

Benson now tied for 14th in the entire LEAGUE in penalties drawn.  And doing it with less ice time than about 10 of the guys ahead of him.
