Erase that 3rd period and that was an enjoyable game. Alamo can blow as far as I’m concerned. I’ve always hated that chickenshite style of hockey.

I give a lot of credit to Reimer and Tuch tonight.  Columbus missing about 5 key players was a good break. 
 

The third period passive play is a strategy I guess. It’s not sustainable.

Good game by Reimer. My observation about him vs UPL is that UPL could learn from Reimer how to not get lost sliding and flopping away from his goal crease on occasion.

I hope we re-sign Reimer, he's a solid backup. It was a solid all around win to make it 4 in a row. Just makes you think if we even cut that losing streak we had earlier in the year in half we would be in playoff contention at the very least.

I was pretty cynical about the fight 3 seconds in but maybe the intent was to get it out of the way and let the rest of the team just play hockey?  Allow them to no worry about having to play a game we’re not well suited for?   Maybe.

Thoughts on our continuous 3rd period issues; is it our lack of strength on the boards or lack of puck carriers to exit the zone?  Or what?

The bane of the Sabres existence are tight checking, high pressure teams.  And yet here they are, winning games against tight checking, high pressure teams, partly with offensive creativity and partly with being hard to play against themselves.  It seemed like there were very few uncontested pucks either way tonight.  Wherever there was a puck, there was a player from each team striving to get it.  The Sabres played a fairly tenacious game.  I think if they get comfortable playing that style, the consistency will come.

Quick thoughts on the game: Tuch is my first star and Reimer is my second star. He's really a composed goalie who is positionally sound. 

This game didn't have much flow to it because there was tight play by both teams. There was a lot of play along the boards. 

Byram played well. 

Without Tage there wasn't much offense for us. Because Tage is such a threat he creates a lot of space for others. 

The play of the game was Johnson for Columbus who scored on a spin a-rama shot. 

As others stated, the Sabres went into a defensive shell in the third period. I didn't like that. 

Rosen was okay. He's not a first line player just yet. 

We won four games in a row and held a lead. I'm not complaining about that. A win is a win. Others might complain but not I. 

Credit to Columbus who played with a depleted lineup yet played hard throughout.  

Let's keep raising the bar with winning the next game and getting it to five games in a row. I hope Tage is back by then.
