Utter nonsense. What broadcasts do you watch? He criticizes the Sabres for defensive coverage lapses all the time. And he also frequently points out the need to address "issues" when liberties are taken. He's never been reluctant to criticize the players and its play.

The Buffalo Sabres completely deflated after that hit. They gave up a short handed goal on the insuing pp that you are claiming was so great, they almost lost. 

A Pyrrhic victory aka where you win but the cost was so great it doesn't matter. Having the coaches shutdown the players instincts to defend themselves is bad juju and exactly why Ruff and the rest of the coaches are unfit. 

Your premise is based on the faulty logic that a team with a 2 goal lead, again they had a 2 goal lead, would have lost if instead of having a 5min pp in which they gave up a short handed goal, a 3pp with another 2min of 4v4 would have cost them the game. Your premise is preposterous at best.

I think it is fundamental to team culture to defend a teammate after a dirty hit.

I dislike the running after a guy that delivered a clean hit but when your top scorer got a vicious hit to the head and is laying there, someone has to get into someone’s grill.

Their reputation is already at the bottom of the barrel and this just confirms it to the rest of the league.

You don’t need to goon it up, just stand up for a teammate that is in a crumpled heap from a cheap shot.

A lot of bashing here has been towards Cozens and he deserves it but Mule and Power are examples of the big wimps that the Sabres put on the ice. Mule is a big dude and he needs to set aside his goofy, dressing room glue guy personality and defend a friend that just got creamed. Power even skates away after UPL got mugged a few times this year.

If we started on 4v4 I don't think we give up that 3rd goal.  IMO

I wasn't much online, but watched both games this weekend.

The absence of a response to Tage being taken out disappointed, but did not surprise me.

Chills bros are gonna chill.

It's no small irony that if Tage is on the ice and someone else gets done dirty? He's apt to respond.

Had Dahlin been on the ice he would of went after Noesen; as an A, that would of been the duty of Muel to handle it. He didn't and then Ruff told them not to respond in kind unless they scored again.

IMO Lindy was defending his players.  Don’t you think he’d love to have someone with the toughness and temperament that would have addressed it immediately?

That Tage incident is Exactly why we need 1-2 of those, a poor man Tom Wilson types. 

I don’t see anyone in the Amerks ready for that. Tyson Kozak would be as he’s about the only other one I see with any real gumption on the ice, but he has the same problem Krebs has as he goes only 5’11 173. Maybe if Komarov puts on 30 lbs of muscle he could. But that isn’t happening.

If we are going to finish last or near last in the East and bottom 5 overall, we might as well be a team everyone fears playing. And make other players think twice about attempting some BS hit to the head of our star players. 

I’ll say it again, trade Power and some future small talent for a 6’4, 220+ guy who plays defense (F or D) and has some physical intimidation if not brutality to his game. And get these weaklings in the **** weight room. Stop adding 3 lbs of muscle to your 180 lb frames and on 10 lbs of muscle and start hammering some people. 

It’s a talented but soft team. That doesn’t play much D. 
 

That’s a bad reason. 

I feel like it worked, though. Cozens was actually watchable yesterday.

He makes more head scratching decisions than anyone else on the team. He needs to stop getting cute and just make the easy play!

 

For all that we have been through as fans, I can’t believe people are still advocating for “building the culture for next year.”

***** next year! I want all the wins this year. I’m glad they got the win yesterday. I hope they win tomorrow. It’s not pointless to get wins this year. WTF?!

Everyone keeps bringing up all the teams we have to pass to get a WC spot. Well, didn’t they just beat a team they might potentially be fighting with for one? 

Winning also builds culture.

It can.  Culture of a team comes from a variety or combination of things.  To me winning was the end result of the team make up or culture.

Mattias Samuelsson is one of the softest players on this team.
