He admitted to not going for retaliation because it was a one goal game. Because he didn't want to blow another game. But you feel free to make up your own stories.

I’m not making up any stories.  I heard him.   There should have been a response on the ice before the penalties were even called.

If not, then on the very next shift.   They had a 5 minute power play anyway, so what if you get an 2 minute instigator, they are better off 4 on 4 anyway.   Put out Gilbert and run somebody.

Ok Lindy gets his 2points. Wow!!!  What will he do?   send someone out next season?

They came dangerously close to blowing this game anyway, they still took 2 minor penalties after that.

Ruff is either out of his mind, or protecting his players.   Either way, he should know from the Lucic hit what the lack of response means.

Boy, at least this fiasco of a game didn't happen last game on Rob Ray Hall of Fame night.

Great point.

I hate hearing Ray agree with the passive play of this team when you know that deep down he feels the exact opposite.   On the rare occasions that the Sabres respond he always agrees with it.

With all due respect to Lindy, winning games at this point in the season really isn't a priority anymore. The only thing left to do now is try to build a team culture for next season.

Let em fight. Maybe they'd actually get something out of it.

Looking back at it, it’s not like NO one responded to the Tage hit. The linesman was pretty aggressive in intercepting him and getting him out of the way.

Intercepting who?   It is EXACTLY like no one responded.  No one did a thing.  Minutes later Kulich is down.  Prior to that Zucker was flattened.

I heard those same excuses on the Lucic hit too.  Good teams don’t let all that happen back to back to back.  They just don’t.

Still perfect post-bills. 27 away from that 30 game win streak I called.

They are 11 back with 30 games to go. They need to play at .700 the rest of the way to get into the mix.

By blowing another game?

Back into the mix? Name a team with a .700 points percentage this season.

There are four teams in the league above .600 and none above .673.

The New Jersey player.  No sabres would go after him, but the linesman did.

Ray stated his opinion that the priority was to not disadvantage your team after the hit. How do you know he feels the exact opposite of what he said? Ray is not a wall flower. He typically expresses his opinion of the need to "address" (as he often describes it) issues when they arise. In this case, the tide was starting to turn against the Sabres in a game that was close.

We got the freaking win, and now the chorus is all about not retaliating even when a response at that time may have hurt our chances of winning. As @PromoTheRobot pointed out the referee quickly intervened and called the major. A subsequent retaliation would have not helped us to win.

The Sabres did not play a soft game. There were some noticeable lulls but much of it can be attributed to a talented offensive team that is very good offensively.

Some quick thoughts on this game: The first star should go to UPL. He had a number of big time stops. My second star would go to Tage who made a couple of nifty passes in close range to Zucker and Peterka for scores.

Dahlin is our best player and drives the play as much as anyone does. I thought Tuck played well.

We need to re-sign Zucker. I have been critical of the GM but this was a terrific pickup. The McLeod acquisition was a solid pickup.

There are many people who are harshly critical of Power. What they are seeing is not what I am seeing. I thought he had a very good game.

Three wins in a row is a step in the right direction. It's still unlikely that we will qualify for the playoffs but I hope that at the minimum we can get back into the playoff picture even if it ends up being another futile attempt.

Step in the right direction?  We’ve won 3 in a row before then went on a 13 game losing streak.  This team has NO direction.  GM She-vyn complains nobody wants to come here.  This is part of the reason why.  No backbone.  Who cares if it was already called a major.  And at this point, who cares about a win.   If I were Tage I’d ask for a ticket outta here.  What star player would want to be here if he knows nobody has his back?

This is false. They blew the play dead because of an injury. The referees and linesmen convened to discuss the possibility of a penalty, and a linesman allowed for a major. It was then reviewed by video to confirm the major. No one threw their arm up as a result of a headshot on Tage.

I care and am happy that they won. If you are not then wallow in your sadness. I'm looking forward to the Columbus game and hoping this team makes it four games in a row. The whining and lamenting over a win is startling to me.

I'm taking the position that Rob Ray took. If you have a different position then so be it. We won the game. You may be disappointed about the outcome but I'm not.

Wallowing?  Lol.  Yeah, I’m wallowing over a team that still has no direction and is heading for year can’t count that high without the playoffs.  Hell, I didn’t even watch again because I find better things to do.

If you didn't watch the game and don't care about the team then why are you commenting on it?

Dahlin seemed to disagree with the coach and zucker in regards to no response to the head hunting.

This team needs a few guys who won’t stand for that, no matter the score.

Hope TT is ok. Noesen better get more than 2 games for that.

Good for you. Keep commenting on games that you didn't see.

Will do.  Didn’t realize that there was a disclaimer in the game day thread.  You know, there is this thing called YouTube where it is possible to watch highlights.
