For me its not so bad if he told them not to retaliate after the moment was over to try to win the game.  I could go either way on that.

The issue was the lack of an immediate response.  If you didn't see it, all you need to do is skate over to your bench and ask someone on it who did it...or better yet the guys on the bench should be YELLING out the the guys on the ice who did it.

Once the moment is over. yeah, try to win the game and don't get sucked into something stupid. But in the moment, that is my issue.

Duff was mentioning that maybe the players are planning on retaliating next season.  I wouldn't have expected a statement any different from someone employed by this franchise.

I don't get that logic, considering that the Devils scored a SHG and stoned the Sabres for the remaining 5 minutes on that powerplay.

Not retaliating in favor of getting "even" with your 28th ranked powerplay is an invitation to the league to run your teammates out of the rink.

And it's not the definition of being tough to play against.

I'd imagine there's a group of players who truly want to do something but can't.

If there's anyone I lost respect for it was Muel for not doing anything. I have no illusions about Power fighting and Zucker was in the D zone when it occurred. Lastly I'm not expecting my rookie center to go after a freaking Neanderthal. Zucker seemed ready to go if Muel went but instead he just stood around.

Lindy's response is both surprising and not. While for all intents and purposes we are "done" this year; I highly doubt the players are hearing that and in a playoff race that is how you are supposed to handle stuff like that nowadays. I'm disappointed that Malestyn didn't find a way to draw a fight though; but then again Kea is always looking for any excuse to tag us with penalties so that also plays into the formula.

After hearing the team’s post game responses, my statement to them is that culture is more important than a win today.  No response to the hit means our culture sucks.

They played fast in the 1st period and attacked keeping NJ off stride.

Then played a slower “not to lose” game. That’s on the Coaches. Mainly Ruff.

Correct.  This team isn’t making the playoffs and showing a spine was more important than winning.  The old Lindy knows this.

But this hadn't happened yet. I didn't care about a collapse, I cared about a team defending their own, momentum be damned. The worst that comes out of it is the Sabres don't get a power play by taking a major of their own. Whoop-de-doo. Statistically, they're good 5-on-5 (when Cozens/Quinn aren't on the ice).

Same guy who pulled our goalie down a goal with over 4 minutes left so we can go for a win.

Self-defeating.

Ruff lucked out and we won the game today, but the players learned the wrong lesson today, imo.

 I thought they had corrected or added some toughness in the offseason.  Unfortunately, of the guys they added, one is in the AHL and the other is out of the lineup....wait .where is Lafferty?  I forgot about him 

again it falls on the GM.  2 of the 3 guys he brought in to make up his 4th line failed.  

btw, Zucker said he didn't see it.  Kulich I don't expect to get involved 40 games into his career.    Power, is well Power but Samuelsson was also on the ice....did he see it?  If he did, take the A off his jersey tomorrow

Did Quinn get hurt again or just benched?  by far and away the least ice time among forwards with about 8 minutes.

After looking like he was turning it around he now has only 1 goal and 2 assists in his last 9 games. I'm just not sure if its a benching or something injury related I missed (didn't see the entire game)
