It's always a treat to see the Sabres of decades past.  It reminds me that this franchise was relevant at one time.  If anything could rekindle the dying embers of my love for this team, this was it.

Then, I look at the current standings and I'm back to where I was before. Just win tonight for Rob.

I hope the messaging about how Ray played and how his teammates felt safe having him with them will somehow resonate with this current team.  The current team lacks somebody who has their back (aside from maybe Gilbert)...learn to have each other's back and show a mean streak when the situation calls for it.

(Of course, in this last statement, they're terrible at saving money too on account of the long-term contracts that have been handed out to bottom-pair D, 4th liners, premature handouts to Power and Cozens, and Ville Leino. You can save a bunch more cash and lose just as much.)
