Thorner Posted Friday at 03:23 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:23 PM The league’s youngest team, the Sabres have their full complement of picks headed into the ‘25 draft and an additional 3, for a total of 10 draft picks Quote
Thorner Posted Friday at 03:27 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:27 PM (edited) It’s funny, you can look at the draft capital we STILL have in combination with the young draft pedigree on the roster…and the CAP SPACE…the fanbase starved for a winner… you really can see the bones of a fantastic set-up for a prospective GM. If only we had any desire to attract candidates interested in winning, that is. Edited Friday at 03:28 PM by Thorner Quote

We know the answer. TP does want to pay multiple coaches anymore and Adams is unable to convince anyone worth a crap to come here except Zucker and he only came for the $ (although he has played great every shift). The other issue is Adams genuinely has no clue what's wrong with his roster. Quote

If we we interested in attracting candidates interested in winning, that is I agree. There are lots of pieces here that would make it an attractive opportunity. The reputation of the franchise and Pegula, might be a drag on interest, but the people who take these kinds of jobs, generally, are not lacking in self-confidence. There would be talented and qualified people, who would believe they can overcome the barriers. 1 Quote
mjd1001 Posted Friday at 03:46 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:46 PM The question this thread poses as the title: "What will be the Sabres approach at the trade deadline?" Answer: Get through the day without making anyone on the team or the front office upset, mad, nervous, or uncomfortable in any way.....and hope the fanbase understands this and accepts this and moves on quickly. I might offer an alternative take…..my answer: Get through the day without making Terry Pegula upset, mad, nervous or uncomfortable in any way and who cares about the fan base. 😁 1 Quote

And those guy are immediately taken off the trade list. If Pegula is a fan of you for any reason, he had a nice conversation with you one time for example, you have a de facto no trade clause. Its not about if the scouts, coaches or analytics dept thinks you are a good player. Nope. Quote

HumanSlinky39 Posted Friday at 08:36 PM Report Posted Friday at 08:36 PM (edited) So... We offload a disappointing forward who couldn't score or defend and a JAG defenseman along with a 2nd to Ottawa for a forward that can score and is "adequate" defensively and a JAG defenseman. Acknowledge Norris's injury past, but it is what it is. We were never getting a flawless piece back. We re-up a popular vet forward who has been productive and apparently wants to be here. Offload a JAG upcoming UFA defenseman who has been scratched a lot lately for...something. I have no problems with any of this. I'm holding out hope that KA is just a lame duck, so I never wanted him making wholesale changes to the current roster. The Cozens deal had to happen. Zucker provides some "glue" going forward, and moving Joker is largely inconsequential. Are we better? I don't know....probably? I don't think Cozens was ever bouncing back here, so even if he gets better in Ottawa that has little to do with what he would have been had he remained a Sabre. It was a move that had to be made and with his value in the tank, I don't see how we could have done better. If Norris can stay healthy, I think he's a clear upgrade. The JAG defenseman doesn't move the needle. Zucker helps you in the near term both on the ice and in the locker room. Moving Joker as said above is inconsequential.
