Totally agree. I see nothing (so far) that would make me think next year will be different.

The Oilers broadcast's hit of the game was the dullest collision between two players heading towards their benches. Ekholm kind of chirped at Quinn, probably "hey, look where you're going." kind of thing.

Yeah, I stopped looking at the standings a while ago because this season is over in terms of a playoff spot. I compartmentalize every game, win or (mostly) lose and hope for a moment of joy that day, then everything resets for the next game and I start the process all over again. I'm watching Jiri and some of the younger guys and watching to see if any of the goalies can start playing at anything remotely resembling consistency. I know they are hung out to dry on most nights but there are still a myriad of soft, baffling goals that find their way into the back of the net which makes the task of winning a game even harder. When is the last time UPL stole a game?

Anyway, I am just watching for the game day and hanging out with the other frustrated diehards on this board. I have no expectations and my hope tank for change is damn near empty. I'll believe there is sweeping change with a front office clean out, the hiring of a real PoHO, and the execution of real, meaningful trades when I actually see it happen. But I won't hold my breath. History tells me I shouldn't. I hope Adams doesn't make any moves, even minor ones. I'd rather see the pending UFAs we have play out the string and then walk rather than getting another 3rd or 4th round pick that will turn into either nothing or a marginal fourth liner four years down the road. Just my two cents and how I am handling the rest of lost season number 14 in a row.

Good point but I don't think it's just the 3rd period.  From about the halfway point in the game it often looks to me like it's just as much about conditioning as anything. With the exception of a few players who consistently work hard, quite a few of them don't look like they're in good enough shape to play at the NHL level for 60 full minutes. Either that or they don't have the will to win. Or both.

I'm beginning to come around to this way of thinking.  Benson and Kulich have become my two favorite Sabres for differing reasons.

Muel, Cozens, Quinn, and JJP all had decent stretches before having the bottom fall out of whatever was there.  Did the rest of the league figure out their games?  Did the rudderlessness of this franchise break them?  Has whatever potential that they had been permanently stifled?  Were they simply not that good in the first place?  Was it a combination of factors?

The wash, rinse, and repeat of neglect to our young talent by this franchise shows no sign of ending.  I'm just enjoying Benson and Kulich's play game by game.  It's only a matter of time until they become like the others.

This franchise has truly become death to player development and success.

The rushed development of players has did no one any good. But that’s the Adams way.
