Yeah, the 'bumbling into a good hire' thing doesn't fly with this franchise.ย  The best hire in the world likely won't work for him.

Pegula needs to remove himself from most decision making, I don't see that happening.

The reason he canโ€™t โ€œbumble into a good hireโ€ is because itโ€™s nearly impossible for any GM to field a playoff team under the parameters heโ€™s setting: the only people willing to take the job are wholly unqualified candidates like Adams who have no business being an nhl GM at all: thus the putrid results even relative to restrictions imposedย

you are right: Pegula is the central issue. The pool of candidates would be much larger and likely to produce a playoff team if Pegula actually cared about making the playoffs. But he doesnโ€™tย

This team is less Theoden and more Wormtongue

Why do you lay these troubles on an already troubled fan base? Can you not see we grow weary of your malcontentโ€ฆ.your warmongeringย

He canโ€™t remove himself from the decision making process when he is the decision making process. ย

By decision making, I didn't mean deciding who the GM was...I mean once a GM is in place the roster building and front office building decisions that COULD be left a lot more to the GM.

A wholly unqualified GM being left to his devices literally explains the poor resultsโ€ฆnever mind one upon which ridiculous handcuffs are imposed. You are trying way too hard. Youโ€™ve got him: itโ€™s Terry. Him hiring awful candidates and handcuffing them explains our ineptitude. Heโ€™s not *also* vetoing the good ideas the unqualified people are coming up with for reasons best known to ourselvesย

Itโ€™s not โ€œheโ€™s hiring unqualified candidates who actually turn out to be suggesting good ideas for some reason which he then refuses to enact because he wants it to be his genius that saves the sayโ€ย

like itโ€™s such an unnecessary added layer purely for the obviously see-through purposes of pretending Adams might be okย

You canโ€™t have your loophole. Adams is not good lolย

I'm trying to heard? You responding to me clarifying a previous statement.

I said Pegula needs to remove himself from decision making and others seem to think I meant he has to remove himself from decisions making on any future GM's.ย  All I did is clarify that statement.ย  You, my friend, are trying to hard to make my comment into something that it isn't.ย

So it is settled. @Thornerย will be the next GM, but all moves must be made by posting a poll on Sabrespace. 50 vote min. For regular stuff, simple majority - major moves 60%.

It's a better plan that what they have now.

You know how โ€œask the audienceโ€ on who wants to be a millionaire is almost always correct? Like thereโ€™s that thing that in large sample sizes youโ€™ll generally get correct answers to common problemsโ€ฆI feel like itโ€™s not stupid to suggest a sabrespace committee would have done a better job in the last 14 years than the management we had. Why not?ย

You ever watched the footage from the Hindenburg disaster?ย

ย

He left AHL rebounds in an NHL world. And at other times, his defenders blocked the shot, but being a small goalie he was far out to cut off the angle, and the blocked rebound went to an angle he couldn't cover and that his defenders couldn't get to quickly enough. He made a few very good reflex saves.

I havenโ€™t seen him play really but Iโ€™ve been working under the assumption his raw ability/athleticism is frankly off the charts. It has to be, will need to be, to succeed at his size at the NHL level. He needs to buck a very significant trend, even more prominent nowadays. Thatโ€™s the path to being the next Saros.ย

The only answer is itโ€™s a mark of how much of a statical trend he needs to overcome due to his size. If he was a few inches taller, heโ€™d be the A prospect in all of hockey IMO

Right, but his good stats didn't get him drafted high the first time, right? Prospect stats for goalies don't carry the projection weight that they do for other players - it's why Levi has fantastic numbers yet still finds himself at the bottom of our top 10 prospect list according to Kris Baker. It remains to be seen if, at his size, he can fend off NHL shots and that's on top of the usual goalie development caveats.ย

6'0 is small for an NHL goalie - I don't see a team going there in the first round personallyย

On the other hand, this is compellingย

Crowd-sourcing, basically.

I like Zucker, but boy, that fourth goal was some really bad awareness by him.

Seattle is all hustle.

The Sabres,โ€ฆ arenโ€™t.

Still frost my cookies that this expansion team (I know that they have some years in the league) owns the Sabres.ย  They are a better team.ย  The Sabres have to revamp the organization before addressing the product on the ice.ย  ย This game was the usual train wreck.ย  Can they stop pulling the goalie?ย  This team is horrible with the man advantage.ย  How many empty net goals do they give up when Ruff stops the insanity.

I tuned in at 7pm for the game tonight but I see they already lost

I am so sorry I missed this one ๐Ÿ˜

This is what happened to me last Saturday.ย

I sat down to watch the game at 7pm, only to discover I already missed them losing earlier in the day.ย
