Reinhart also said he was open to a LT extension under KA. They went bridge during Covid

Does anyone else think that all of this is so much worse because of the fact that the Bills are now such a well run, top organization and itโ€™s the same owner? It has to heighten the anger and confusion.

itโ€™s like โ€ฆ impossibleโ€ฆ

Other than the only explanation being Terry just totally lucked out with hiring McBeane. Itโ€™s the only way this is possible.

Seems convenient that every year, right when the season goes off the rails we start hearing about Tate โ€œplaying through something.โ€  For a player that size he sure does seem to always be injured or they want always want that excuse out there.

If your injured donโ€™t play, if you play stop with the excuses.

They donโ€™t need a sports psychologist- thereโ€™s no wonder what the issue is. They arenโ€™t unusually mentally fragile: young players are just naturally more susceptible to mental struggles and we always have *the youngest team in hockey*. Itโ€™s an error of roster building, not selecting players with poor psyches. We are developing and fostering those psyches through the environment we are bringing them all into time and time again

One silver lining re: the sabres is how obvious all their main issues are. Would make them much easier to fix if the org actually cared

No I remember Eichel situation very well

the organization f*cked it up. He may not have been "Josh Allen" level of player but he is in the next tier and digging their heels in and not letting him get his surgery was their biggest mistake yet.

this inept cesspool and conglomeration of incompetence is clearly as good at medicine and treatment decisions as they are at team building and personel ones. Dr Adams... calling Dr Pegula...

I think this is what is sad.  In the spring of 2023 things appeared to be turning around.  The Sabres were one of the most talked about teams of the off-season. There were reports of them coming off No-Trade lists. When Erik Johnson signed, he said he asked around the league and players were high on what the Sabres were doing.  Almost all of this has been squandered. The only remaining positive is that the assets that were available to Adams that would have allowed him to make this a playoff team, are largely still there (if not, in some cases, slightly diminished in value).

Before this season started I was of the view that we were not a playoff team and that, nonetheless, Adams's job was safe. I never imagined we would be closer to in the running for the 1st overall pick than for the playoffs.  Imagine being in year 5 of your tenure as GM and declaring this a playoff year and then having the roster and coaching staff that you built collapsing so monumentally.  If Adams survives this as GM it will be indisputable proof that the Sabres are not a serious NHL team.

Beyond the highest level of evaluation (we are terribly managed and therefore we are terrible), what is the point anymore?

Not to sure about that, for me, anyways. Bills stinkers in playoffs are worse than Sabres sucking in regular season.

You don't have to go into detail with what's wrong with this laughable franchise because it is obvious what the source of the problem is. Let's look at a comparable situation where an owner has shackled a franchise and killed its own fanbase. It was sleazy Dan Snyder who owned the Washington Commanders and used it as his play toy. The league got tired of his boorish antics and his financial manipulations that screwed the other owners over visiting revenues. In the same year that he was dispatched after being forced to sell the franchise, in which he made an exorbitant profit, there was an immediate turnaround for this formerly moribund franchise. The Sabres are in the same straitjacket situation of hopelessness because we have an owner who prefers having his toy franchise to play with rather than having a serious franchise run by serious people without his interference. There are a lot of issues that need to be addressed before this fading franchise becomes relevant again. It starts at the top!

Sally Jenkins poignantly described the Washington Commanders situation under sleazy Daniel Snyders as "rich man's conceit". That same description aptly applies to the sphynx Sabre owner. It appears that our owner is too shameless to be ashamed to what he has done to this once proud franchise and fanbase.

I agree.

So when people ask why the Bills are not bad while the Sabres are bad under Pegula, what you said is the best answer. He doesn't view the Bills, for WHATEVER reason', as his 'toy' to play with as much as he does the Sabres.

The big issue is...if that is true there are no signs of it changing.  The trip to Montreal, the meeting with the players to say basically "nothing is going to change" was as strange as it is disturbing (for fans).

He goes to Montreal to give the Sabre players a pep talk. The result is that the Sabres responded by being overwhelmed by the inspired Canadians. It must have been a great pep talk where it deflated the team he stood in front of and inspired the opposition. Thereafter, Montreal went on a successful run. Doesn't this nonspeaking owner have any freaking pride? His own players (employees) are ignoring/mocking him. This owner has no shame. He would rather tinker with his broken toy than allow someone else to fix it. It's stupid and outrageous!

Someone needs to have a loooong conversation with Terry Pegula on what it means to be considered a worthy nhl owner. Not nfl , nhl. If they need to take him for a looooong walk to get the point across so be it. What a terrible placeholder he is. Its right there for all to see but he is oblivious to the destruction he has caused. Its all going swimmingly in his mind. Time to kick ass people. Its time for paper bags and placards, signs whatever it takes to wake this moron up.

I know people point at Adams and the entire front office....there is validity to that. He employs people who 'coddle him', let him have is say, and make him feel like he is 'being heard' on many levels rather than quality people.  Oh, and people who are cheap. Now one could say Pegula is not cheap, how many people has he paid for years after they were fired, but that can be viewed as WHY he is cheap. If I have to pay "Guy A" because I fired him with time left on his contract, then I'm not going to pay "Guy B" a lot.

But beyond that, I also THINK he has not only input (bad most of the time) on players (he wanted Leino and Erhoff when he took over), but I think he has heavy input into contracts.  Not negotiating the terms, but the direction.  Now, I have VERY little proof, but this is my feeling:  When Eichel wanted the different surgery and there was a little 'back and forth' between him and the team, Pegula didn't like that, so that is a large part why things ended with the team and him.  I think Reinhart would have stayed here if initially offered a long term deal, but Pegula didn't think highly enough of him, and with Covid, he wasn't going to get one.  I DO think Pegula not only signed off on, but he may have pushed a bit to lock up Tage and Cozens long term.  Power.  Again, no reason other than a 'feeling' based on reading between the lines of some articles, but I think Power and Dahlin were not 'pushed' for by Pegula, I think those happened the 'traditional' way (Hockey Dept/Adams told Terry why they wanted them locked up and Pegula signed off on it).

But with Cozens I am pretty confident. Nothing else to me makes sense why coach after coach puts him out there and he fails to produce and hurts the team, why he hasn't been moved, why he won't get benched.  Why when Tage is hurt Cozens gets PROMOTED to the first line.  He has to be a favorite of Pegula. Nothing else makes sense to me.

Iโ€™ve been watching them since 5 years old in 1973 and really pretty consistently. I mean Iโ€™d watch virtually every single game including west coast games. About halfway through the 13 games loss streak i decided it was enough and havenโ€™t watched a second since. Itโ€™s sad, but this joke of a team is not with it and Iโ€™m much happier not investing/wasting my time with them.

I'm there with you being about the same age.  About a month ago I decided the same thing.  ....I only will watch if there is absolutely nothing else to do
i have to admit i got roped back in last Sat and made sure my day was clear to watch the game vs Seattle.  Big mistake.
watched the first 2 periods last night.  Switched to raptors for the 3rd

I agree.  I want a huge fan revolt.   Here is the issue. , the Sabres no longer have the passionate fan base to pull something like that off

not to mention there is a huge portion of the fan base that is left is  too scared to piss off Terry in fear he will sell the team and the next owner relocate the team

Brian stayed appropriately serious for four minutes before cackling about the goalie goal, and other goalie goals, and how he was in Ottawa for one of them. Funny stuff!

And once that first cackle leaks out, the dam is burst.

I was at work and caught the post game locker room interviews. I saw the box score without the score and Benson looked so pissed.

Iโ€™m just baffled at the box score on thisโ€ฆ.

We dominated shots, held Pittsburgh to 19? Won turnovers, competitive on face offs and PIM.

Can somebody explain WTF happened?
