Porous Five Hole Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago (Paywall) …Those facts all combine to mean Zucker will be a popular name when NHL trade talks intensify in the coming weeks. As of Jan. 1, Zucker is eligible to sign an extension with the Sabres. And that’s something that he’s open to, despite how the team has performed this season. “I would love it,” Zucker said. “Right now that’s not something that is in my control. For me personally, it’s something I would be very interested in. If that time comes we can have that conversation.” https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6062957/2025/01/15/nhl-trade-deadline-sabres-jason-zucker/?source=emp_shared_article On the one hand, what else is he supposed to say to a reporter? But on the other hand, we need more guys like him and not less. Sign me up for a short term extension for market value. 2 Quote
triumph_communes Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago This is the UFA veteran every team wants. Don’t let him go. Tricky part is finding a few more like him rather than the imposters Quote

Every UFA player is positive with the place they're playing and excited to help them win. A good GM would take Zucker up on his word because he'll be middle 6 capable for the next 3 seasons. A cheap owner operating on EEE might not. Quote
Pimlach Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I am shocked as to why he would do this. He can always come back in the off season. Quote

He's played for 3 different teams in the last year and wants some stability. He has 2 kids and is divorced, his wife is from Minnesota, so idk why Buffalo but if he wants to be a 50pt guy again next year and support the kids, I am good with him. 1 1 Quote
Mr Peabody Posted 32 minutes ago Report Posted 32 minutes ago He’s had an excellent 1/2 year here so that means $8M for 8 years 1 Quote
PerreaultForever Posted 22 minutes ago Report Posted 22 minutes ago Lots of injuries in his career so at 32 it's risky but the lack of veterans here makes it valuable. Give him 3 years and slap an A on him. Quote
