IDK - the Sens are certainly higher in the standings with games in hand.  I expected a much better showing from them, but I guess any team can screw the pooch on any given night.

Wow…listen to the Sen’s fans booing their team…..brings a smile to my face

The standings do mean something, I agree. But the Sabres are miles above the Sens on talent, years of high draft picks assured that alone.

it has been, is and always will be how that talent plays on any given night. Tonight, it’s the Sabres, yet we still have the dreaded 3rd period to go. So hang on to your seats Sabres faithful, we need these players to learn to use that talent a full 60.

I (like you and many others) LOVE the kid and I want him to have a great career in Buffalo.  I just think he needs to get a bit stronger and faster in order to maximize his potential.  He already has great hockey smarts and attitude….just need his body to catch-up.  I also think about his mental state….sometimes he is the only one who has shown some backbone on the whole team.  I don’t want the rest of the team to poison Benson’s attitude.

ZB can just as well get bigger and stronger where he is currently.

And he will poison the rest of the team instead.

Maybe not this year.  95 is a good number but a lot of teams are clogged up fighting for points.  It could be less this year.

Sabres playing a decent 3rd thus far.

Playing 7 D tonight was a good move.  Gilbert has helped.   You can’t play him much, but he has a role.

I think he’s better defensively than Samuelsson. Play him for lol time.

No argument he needs to get stronger.  I just don't see it stunting his growth.  IMO, he fits in the NHL right now.  I just don't get the sense there's poison in that locker room. I think his playing time is appropriate and he's handling the situations he's being put in.  Now if he wasn't growing and sitting games because he's not ready, I'm with you, that's when I'd want him down.

It can get a little wild wild west in the AHL too and I'm not sure I'd want him there.

I'm not sure poison could poison Benson's attitude.

Kid just looks and plays stone cold to me.  I'm having a hard time not believing he's going to be a stud.

So, how long into the third until Tkachuk takes another cheap shot to get his team going?

With 8:16 to go. Too little, to late. Goon.

If there was ever a situation where a 19 year old can change the attitude of his entire team….this is where I hope it can happen.  If I was a player on the Sabres, I’d be embarrassed that the smallest and youngest player on the team has more courage than me or anybody else.  I want more Benson’s on the Sabres…but right now he’s alone.

Gilbert held his own there - good job!

He did his job. Good call going with an extra D tonight for just that reason.
