shrader Posted Friday at 09:12 PM Report Posted Friday at 09:12 PM I wonder if the Rantanen thing has anything to do with Carolina having a numbers guy as their GM who probably isn't as familiar with the people-side of things. I've been wondering if that was pretty much Waddell's role, more of the relationship and people-side of things. But then again, they had the same problem with Guentzel last year. 1 Quote

I don't understand why they didn't just keep him, try and win a cup, try and sign him before July 1, and take advantage of the cap space if he leaves. Quote
pastajoe Posted Friday at 09:20 PM Report Posted Friday at 09:20 PM Ottawa got a nice forward, Fabian Zetterlund, from San Jose Quote

He may have been added for depth, but it only begs the question “What happened to our need for a RHD with snarl to complement and protect Dahlin?” Dahlin has been taking a beating the last few games with little support. Appreciate they are hard to secure without paying a premium. Doesn’t negate the need. Maybe Adams will make it happen in the offseason. Quote
FrenchConnection44 Posted Friday at 09:27 PM Report Posted Friday at 09:27 PM I’d have given a conditional 2027 2nd rounder for Marchand sight unseen. Just get him in the locker room and instill some fire and toughness. Actually, an unconditional one. My guess is he would not have come here and they did him a solid to put him on a contender to give him a chance at a Cup with Florida. If Tkachuk is back healthy for the playoffs, no one will want to play that team. Just nasty. Quote

They traded away a very good 2-way centerman at a reasonable AAV through next season for what has ultimately returned an undersized 3C and two firsts that will very likely be bottom 20% of the first. They're supposed to be making a cup run this year and they got worse with that trade and the subsequent deal sending Rantanen to Dallas. Quote

He's currently in the AHL, which is why people say he's meant for the Amerks. He might see a little time with the Sabres, but he's probably an Amerk for their playoff run. 1 Quote

SwampD Posted Friday at 10:44 PM Report Posted Friday at 10:44 PM Is this the most moves KA has on this day? I don’t ever remember him making this many moves at the trade deadline,… for good or ill. Quote

Three moves tied with 2023 and 2024 for the most on a day. 3/3/2023 - Greenway, Asplund, and Austin Stand (AHL) (though 2 more moves on 3/2, and the Bloom trade on 3/1, so it was a busy deadline) 3/8/2024 - Okposo, E.Johnson, and Cooley (AHL). 1 Quote

Brannstrom has played parts of the every season but 2 in the AHL. He's a tweener, like Bryson or Gilbert. Quote

A conditional 2nd in 2027. Considering some of the other deals the Bruins made. They got a haul for Coyle. Which I thought was an overpay by the Avs. I know he has term and Brad is a true rental but I cannot reconcile the gap. And the Carlo deal had a good return too. Again, some term (2 years) but a good prospect and a first. Quote
