RE Trading Power (from the article)

Quote

The Sabres could simply be looking to shake up their group after a massively disappointing performance in 2024-25.

Shaking things up is a poor reason for moving any player, including Power.  Trading Power for assets that will improve the team should be the reason for any trade.

What about someone like Brandt Clark?  He might be available.  Young right shot defenseman.  Could pair with Dahlin or one of our LHD?

A) He’s not available

B) He is the opposite of what this team needs. He is the right handed Power. No D, No Physicality

Pretty sure he has a D. I mean, would have made the news if he didn't.

Pitt trading Marcus Pettersson to Van.  Apparently, the Canucks are changing their name to the Van Petterssons featuring Elias at center and Elias and Marcus on defense.

Granlund and Ceci to the Stars

Sharks getting back an unknown something.

Sharks get Dallas 2025 1st and 3rd round pick (only a 3rd if Dallas makes the finals)

Wait, Dallas gives up less if they do well? Do you have that backwards?

Two veteran UFAs we should try to sign in offseason.

5 pretty big deals so far with 5 weeks to go until the deadline.   Teams getting a very early start.

Calling Howdy Doody.

Why would you want KA to make a trade when he doesn’t have a clue as to how and put together a winning NHL franchise?

If the sharks can get a 1st for Ganlund then we should be able to get two 1sts for Zucker.

Well, they got a 1st and 4th for Granlund and Ceci. Granlund plays C and is out producing Zucker.

Maybe this is crazy, but should a team like the Sabres be in on a deal like this?  Granlund and Ceci would be good veteran adds. They are UFA’s, but acquiring them now would have given the Sabres a 5 month window to get them signed. We couldn’t offer a 1st, but the Dallas 1st is likely to be in the bottom 10. We could have offered a high 2nd, a 3rd in 2026, and/or a good young player or prospect. We should be past the stage of hoarding picks and prospects. Some risk needs to be taken at some point.

Well, Ceci isn't good, so no.

Granlund is okay.

Either way, I don't think the Sabres are trading for any UFA with the hope of them signing in the off-season. There's no debating Buffalo as a destination players want to be right now. They don't help Buffalo make the playoffs either, so its going to create ill will to the Sharks organization if they trade them to Buffalo as rentals.

That's a seller's trade only and it takes what Dallas gave up to get it done.

Cody Ceci played 24 Stanley Cup playoff games last season and a Stanley Cup contender believes he upgrades their defence.  He is precisely the type of right shot D-man we need to play on the 2nd pair with one of our young lefties.

He isn't good; he quite literally was a cap dump by said playoff team
