A reminder that just 20 months ago an aged Capitals team finished 11 points behind the Sabres in the standings. They then went out and did an actual search for a head coach and selected the best young assistant they could identify.  Then they went about revamping their line-up by adding veterans through trade and free agency (Dubois, Chychrun, Mangiapane, Vrana, Roy, Thompson). Today they sit on top the NHL East standings.  In the same time we strengthened the blue line by adding Johnson and Clifton, made a lateral trade for a redundant piece (Mitts for Byram), did not do an actual search for a new head coach, and shuffled the deck chairs on our 4th line. Today we sit on the bottom of the NHL East standings.  Tune in to see what an actual NHL team, run by people who care and are qualified, looks like.

A real organization would be looking at Carle who has 2 D1 college championships at Denver and back to back WJCs gold medals. Alas this not a real organization as that would cost money and Adams is leading this franchise to nowhere and Carle would take one look at this franchise and say “I think I’m good thanks”

And the promoted their GM to POHO, and let him restructure the program.   No mass firings, no new budget constraints, ,no trading all of their storied veterans,  no pre planned suffering based on a hope and a dream.

Please no.  In some of the 'behind the scenes' draft and trade day videos,  he has quite a lot of input into the team already.  If a change is going to be made, I do not want anyone from 'inside the room' being elevated.

I suggested him as an interim option. I want KA out as soon as possible. Thereafter, there needs to be an exhaustive legitimate search for a permanent replacement. Another reason why I want an immediate replacement (even on a temporary basis) is that the organization needs to be jolted in some fashion to show that there will be accountability, although belatedly. The Pegula job search charades need to stop!

I want an embarrassing 10-1 blow out loss.

Their psyche is already shot. They know they’re nothing but losers.

I want a totally embarrassing 10-1 loss. Ovi get 4.

I just want whatever we need to completely gut the entire operating FO and replace them with competence and have Terry understand that he cannot get in the way to happen...  I just dont think it will... but if your scenario gets it done. I am in.

Who wanted or needed to hear this?  Send a letter to Kevyn Adams and Terry Pegula.  We know the Sabres failings.  How many times do I need to get kicked in the dick for someone else’s problems?

I was just going to say something how about 2 seasons ago everyone was saying the Caps were entering a decline because their roster was aging and they had a bunch of holes. They have an actual management pyramid stacked with serious hockey people, made shrewd moves to improve their roster around their aging superstar and are currently, arguably, the best team in the league.

And here we sit, with dumb and dumber in charge, going the other way with a poorly constructed roster and a front office unwilling to make any changes. Must be nice to root for a team that's actually serious about hockey.

Terrific post. What your post demonstrates is an example of basic organizational competency and professionalism. There was no blockbuster move that altered the makeup of their roster. They simply made a series of solid moves that revamped their roster. Compare that to our Micky Mouse organization?  While the Sabres go backwards the more normally run organizations move forward. How can you not be upset with so much stupidity!

Bunomatic reporting for duty. Whats the worst that could happen ? Go get em boys !

After the game, the owner gives the GM an extension. And then the owner proclaims that we are staying the course.
