It happened again.  They choked in almost the exact fashion.  Wow.

The led the entire game.   Then they stopped attacking.

After Bensons controversial goal, the fans and Avs got mad. The Sabres got timid and changed what they were doing.  All downhill from there.

Most people before the game "OMG, we're gonna get killllled!"

Sabres get a point on the road in Colorado - "we suck!!! wahhhh" lol, get real

Dude we need to go on a 30 game winning streak to get to 92 points and you try to spin this?

Per NHL.com, we won 55% of face-offs. But, we lost the last 6-8 in a row. Face-offs matter when they matter. We won none when they mattered.

The difference in urgency is so obvious. Avs were pushing hard because they needed to. We sat back and tried to keep our heads above water.

The point is no consolidation when they lost another winnable game to the same team.  They had a two goal lead with 3:52 left and they lost.  This point means nothing and the psychological damage is there.

We just can’t win or grow can we?

Our young players don’t have the tools to overcome this. Most of them come from winning programs and are used to at least some form of success. So they’re generally not hyper focused on mental toughness to such a degree that they would be prepared to come to a franchise that is stuck in a groundhogs day negative energy loop.

I said it earlier, the guys on this team are more comfortable when they’re losing. Comfortable doesn’t mean you’re happy with it, but they feel more comfortable in this state. I’m actually starting to think that the only way to turn this around to ever become a playoff team would be to have a team mostly full of veterans. You can bring the most talented Young players you want, but the energy is so bad here that you would need to be experienced and very mentally tough to handle this environment on a consistent basis.

And I haven’t heard anyone in the organization mention putting a priority focus on sports psychology to any degree.

Everything we were told Lindy would bring to this team has failed to materialize. Just sayin'.

When you have multiple coaches that have succeeded in many other places but seem to have the same issue here eventually you have to look at the constants involved which are the players.
