touche. I actually thought you did a decent job defending yourself yesterday, so it struck me as an odd choice that you would choose to go on the offensive today. Nothing less, nothing more.

I actually feel a little Swiss around here lately. I tend to agree with a lot of the points made by the "burn it down" and "is that a ray of sunshine?" crowds and I think there are a lot of great discussions around both sides that allow folks to type out some frustrations. But yea, the mob can rise up and turn on one pretty quickly, especially in the heat of another disappointing loss. Once the petty bickering sets in, I Homer Simpson into the bushes and come back later.

That's a sound strategy and feels like that works well for you.  I'm just trying to watch these young players develop.  With how young we are, there's plenty to watch.  Some good and some bad but, IMO, there's enough to like in that regard.

I just can't let it go when I say something positive and the mob becomes unglued by it.  I shouldn't start it, so I think you're right. I appreciate the thoughtful reply.

I know, right.  He should be trading our prospects for players with no trade clauses to the Sabres and trying to sign free agents that won't sign in Buffalo.

I mean, you're so right. You should probably repeat your post over and over.  I'm surprised no one has brought this up, until right now.

I mean you can't make it up.  It's literally the same exact posts in different thread titles.

5,000 days.

Can't make THAT up.

If they have any hope of joining the playoff chase, they must rattle off some wins. As of Sunday afternoon, they trailed the Ottawa Senators, who held the second wild card spot, by seven points.

They also must pass seven teams – the Columbus Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Penguins had 40 points, the same total as Ottawa – to reach that final playoff spot.

That second wild card spot might be easier to snag than in past seasons. Washington earned it with just 91 points in 2023-24. Entering Sunday’s schedule, Ottawa was on an 86-point pace.

The Sabres finished with 84 points last season and 91 in 2022-23.

Some wins?

Bill, tonight marks the halfway point of the season. Hashtag math. The Sabres are going to have 33 points, barring an upset.

As someone who is supposed to be objectively covering the team, he needs to be honest about what the Sabres need to do, instead of carrying water for them as per usual.

Seven points back! Some wins'll fix that up.

The only way would be for Levi to come up and pull a full Binnington. 1.89 GAA and .927+ sv% for about 30 starts.

But this team lacks the personnel (ROR, Schenn, Bozak down the middle) or the Berube defensive coaching to help get even prime Hasek to .927.

UPL can’t keep the GA down and Levi won’t either.  Watch this team play defense.

They will finish bottom 6.  That’s being positive.

We seem to be made to suffer; it's our lot in life.

It'd be just like them to get to 7th, get jumped by... Pittsburgh? The Pens are due for a lottery win. Sabres draft 8th again.

I agree though, I think this roster is perfectly capable of finishing 3rd overall after Saaros/Nashville get a little more competitive. San Jose's trade for Georgiev is going to keep them out of reach.

The interesting thing is this team hasn't even sold off their UFAs yet. Just think how bad they'll look once Zucker is out. The powerplay will go back to 10%. 8 of their 20 PP goals are Zucker's.

When Zucker and Greenway leave they will likely bring up Rosen and probably Kozak.

McLoed and Byram negotiations will be interesting,  and so will contracts for Quinn and Peterka.  It would not surprise me if 2 of these 4 are moved

Next year Helenius will make the team as a center, no blockers.

Yeah... I like Kozak and Helenius, but I hate GM Sheevyn. That's Gavin McKenna territory right there.
