Hey look, a hockey game to ring in the new year. 

The 21-13-3 Stars, have a +23 goal differential and were just fined 100k for a cba practice violation because unlike the 14-19-4 Sabres, the Stars would literally rather get fined than cancel a practice. My guess is the palm 🌴  really help there.

I would offer a one year extension at the same salary and see if he bites. We will have the cash with the cap going up and some folks are headed for a bridge deal (definitely Quinn, probably Byram, maybe JJP).
 

If he won’t take the one year extension, then I sell him as a rental at the trade deadline for the best offer.

If he's good, why low ball him? We have the money.

I've been pretty happy with all the bottom 6 signings. They don't score as much but Aube-Kubel, Lafferty and Malenstyn are good energy players that fight for possession when they are on offense and block shots on defense.

I don’t think five million dollars for 50-55 points is low-balling him. That is pretty close to market value for a winger.

I've watched the stars recently. For being a good goalie (there Starter) hes struggling lately. Get shots on him.

He will want to get moved to a contender for a shot at the Cup.  I suspect he will talk to Adams about that.

Well I did not have Randy Burrige on my Bingo card as the gold standard for UFA free agents in Buffalo history.  It explains a lot.  I guess Randy preferred his backyard (Fort Erie kid) vs palm trees 🌴.  As for Zucker, you can’t not resign him, even if you have to trade him at the deadline.  Without knowing the inner workings of the locker room, he appears to be a leader  of this team.  Both on the ice and on the bench.  He’s blocking no one. 
 
As for the game, it will have to wait.  Guests coming over for NYE where they will expect the Fiesta Bowl.  Outside of Pi, not too many hockey fans, let alone Sabre fans in south OC.

I've been to 5 sabres games. I'm 0-5. I thought about going to this one, but I'm going to take one for the team and just watch from home. Save the drive and money for tickets. It's a win win. If they win. Come on Sabres get 4 in a row!!!

14-9-1, not quite that deceiving of a record. 

They are what their record says they are currently, and that’s an inconsistent (and unfortunately bad) team 

 

Realism aside, I’m still blind in optimism and telling myself how they’re only a 10 game win streak away from being back in the thick of things. Go Sabres!
