Red Squadron only goes up to 12 X-Wings. I don't even have anything to quip about....

 

It's an Isles game though, so the Sabres have a chance to win in OT/SO if they can score 2 goals in regulation. More likely it's 4-1 Isles with an ENG added less than 15 seconds after UPL leaves the ice.

Lets see, what will happen on the Island tonight?    The Aisles will break out their heavy game and we will get stifled in the neutral zone.  We wont get enough high danger shots to really test their goalie and we wont be willing to go to the dirty areas. 

UPL will keep it close for awhile, but it end up 4-2, with the 4th goal being yet another ENG. 

Oh yeah, and Martin and their 4th line will slap us around as usual.

The NHL does not consider this a 'losing streak' since we got points. Don't ask my why, they just do. If you are going for "winless" - not even close, the Jets had a 30 game winless streak.

Interesting fact, tho - apparently our very own Buffalo Sabres are one of only 3 teams in the "Loser Point Era" to have a losing streak of 10 or more games. AAANND, own the longest such streak ... 14 games in 2014-2015. Insane.

I grabbed more games to show that the results DO show OT L ...so those 14 were in. a. row. All losses.

Morning Skate: Looks like Quinn is back in and poor McLeod is getting demoted to the 4th line. I'm confident that there is not a level that Cozens could suck at that would get him bumped for any length of time to wing.

I just don't get it.   Why not a 3rd line of Kulich - McLeod - Benson?   That pushes Krebs to 4C.  

McLeod is an RFA after this season.    What do you think happens to him? 

Also, looks like Bryson moves past Joker, again.

Because they are incompetent and they have favorites. It was Zemgus and now it is Krebs because Krebs HAS TO WORK due to Adams Eichel trade. It is why they keep forcing Levi into NHL action too. Levi HAS TO WORK otherwise Adams is the big idiot... which he has proven to be. I think the McLeod trade is a Karmanos move supported by analytics. 

I also think they are obsessed with making Kulich into a center because then they can justify moving another center. Bottom line, this isn't a management group that seems to be in a "must win" mode and they look like they quit on the season and are just in another development year.

I kinda feel opposite... I think this is one of those we score first maybe even up by two or so and then let the lead whittle away...

Two thoughts on the lineup:

1) I realize McLeod's good start has dried up and he hasn't scored a goal in a month -- that stinks. But how about getting him into the top 6 with scorers instead?

2) The Kid Line (Benson-Cozens-Quinn) wasn't producing. So... now they have two kid lines? That's on the GM for having such a young roster, but especially with Greenway out so you don't have a shutdown defensive line while simultaneously needing to shake things up... how about spreading out the veterans and the types of players on each line? Split up McLeod, Malenstyn, Lafferty, Aube-Kubel -- weave them in with the kids who are getting pushed around.

 

And, McLeod will either get a qualifying offer and then get out of dodge -- OR -- he's going to sign a 1-year offer sheet. The Sabres can match it because the compensation won't be great, but then he'll need to be dealt or just let him walk for nothing. His role is perfect for this team and where they're at, and they're going to chase him away with their ineptitude.

My Norwegian House Bitters finished its infusion today and I bottled it up. Thankfully it's just bitters so I will have a lot left after tonight.. but mixing it with some dry gin, mezcal, and vermouth?  Yes.

Earlier I came across the picture of RJ that @josie did and then printed out on cards and handed out for RJ's last night. Hope it's a sign that the Sabres will find a way to get it done.

I did not know they were playing tonight.  Then I look at Sabrespace and see the gameday thread....

Sabrespace, why do you do this to me?  I cringe because I know I'm going to watch.  I shouldn't, but I can't help myself.  I'll be cursing myself later for wasting a couple of hours only to walk away disappointed. I guess it's become somewhat of a gawker's delight.

I wore my RJ tee-shirt a few times this year.   It was given to me by my daughter, who attended his goodbye game.  Sad, but they have never won a game with me wearing it.  

Maybe I try again tonight?
