If you are still caring if this team wins or loses , congratulations. Turn the lights off when you leave the building You should really read Archie Lees post, it was excellent Offensively Power and Byrum are already there Need defensive responsibilities reduced .. a partner for Power besides Jokiharju would be a good start Sorry if I think the idea of trading him now would be a knucklehead move Reduce the “defensive responsibilities” of two of your top 4 defensemen? So are you saying they should be on the bottom 6 pair? That sounds more knucklehead then trading one of them. Quote

You add in a vet stay at home dman who can play with Power and a bottom pair you can trust, you keep Power out of situations like killing penalties. 5v5 both are net positives. Would even be better if your 4th dman wasn't an AHL level player 1 Quote

Maybe TNT plays wing on a first line, but Cozens isn’t a 2C. We need a top 6 center right now more than a young soft development project that cannot defend (making $8 million) Quote

My argument is that we have higher priorities than keeping him and that we are wasting $8 million a year for a defender who is paid like a top 4, but can’t play defense. Maybe someday he will, but it may be a 15 to 20 year playoff drought by then. 2 Quote

No, especially since Friedman mentioned on the 32 Thoughts podcast on Monday that Byram is looking to be the number one defenseman on a team, which to me translates into wanting a large AAV on his next extension. I highly doubt that Adams or hopefully his replacement gets the approval to pay three defenseman more than 8 million per year Quote

There is a reason why guys like Reilly and Karlsson get paid. they need to replenish the bottom 3 - 4 guys on the D with Vets who are responsible and can shore up the defensive play in their own end 1 minute ago, Brawndo said: No, especially since Friedman mentioned on the 32 Thoughts podcast on Monday that Byram is looking to be the number one defenseman on a team, which to me translates into wanting a large AAV on his next extension. Oh wait Carmel Corn said guys who don't kill penalties shouldn't be in the top 4 Quote

In the mean time, our top 6 can’t score enough goals to win games. Quote

I would try to give them less than Byram if we give up Cozens. Byram might be the best of tne three. Not sure Petterson is worth both players. I don’t like the trade. 1 Quote

I'mp suggesting that a defenceman can contribute offensively. Agreed in theory yes. We have Dahlin and Byram who can do this as well. BUT we need players who are on the ice both even strength and on the PK who can neutralize opposing players in the zone, box out in the crease, etc. I am in a different place than you in terms of the value of defense vs. offense by our defenders. If Power was making $5 million vs. $8 would I feel differently? Maybe. Regardless of that….our top 6 simply sucks from a goal production standpoint and our Power Play is a hot mess, so I think we desperately need to give up something of value to get something we need….top 6 goal production. rickshaw Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago EP40 better be careful what he wishes for cuz he very well may end up in Buffalo. I don’t think he’s the answer at all. He really has the IDC attitude which is polar opposite of JT. Which is probably why Miller and Petie don’t get along. Sabres need to look elsewhere if making moves. Quote
PerreaultForever Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago Byram will make a steep ask in order to force a trade out of here. I mean wouldn't you? Saw this coming a mile away. Pettersson is not the answer and not what we need so no doubt he's here in a few weeks. Quote
LGR4GM Posted 20 minutes ago Report Posted 20 minutes ago Not gonna lie, E.P. kinda worries me. He seems like a more expensive version of players we have. Quote
