“Starting Today the Buffalo Sabres Reason for Existence will be to Win the Stanley Cup”

Imagine travelling back in time and  telling everyone that this guy will turn this franchise into the laughingstock of all sports and will not make the playoffs once under his guidance.

How does Terry look in the mirror?

”No Mr. Black, not Hockey Heaven, it becomes Hockey Hell”

I’m sure he meant it at the time. He made quite a few moves and changes that were certainly made in good faith toward that goal, even if it didn’t work out.

The part about this that is the most notable, is that pretty much everything he promised turned into the exact opposite.

Previous owners here, owners in other cities that are closer to 'absentee' owners opering their sports teams on a budget 'luck' into more success.  Pegula promised the very best, 'hockey heaven' and it turned into possibly the single worst period of sports ownership its length in the modern history of American sports.

Do you think you could find one independent opinion anywhere on the Internet that supports this?

I'm not sure and I'm not going to try, I don't need to.

Its my opinion, the opinion of a lot of people on this forum.....and I think missing the playoffs for 13 straight years in a league where 1/2 of the teams makes it, that support stands on itself.

If someone can find me an orgainiation in major north American sports that has missed the playoffs that many years in a row where about half the teams make it, that has gone through so many coaches, GM's, presidents in that period of time, I'll listen.

Dude, pretty much every poster on Sabrespace holds that opinion.

I agree with you... but we both know some google search looking for an independent opinion means nothing... results do... and the results speak for themselves.... 14 years and no hope on the horizon... its us and the Jets LOL

I wonder what Terry thinks of that performance last night, after his big pep talk. It was terrible. They couldn't even connect on routine passes until they were down 5 goals.

Maybe not the worst ownership, but certainly the results during an ownership. They would be hard to top (or, um,... bottom?)

I agree with you that Terry had the foresight to realize Stanley Cup would be so popular that far in the future. "Sole purpose is to win a Stanley Cup". It's a weird statement to make at an opening presser about a future beverage vessel. It has to be that right? He has done very little, or certainly been a hindrance, to winning the hockey version

You know what a sucker I am??? I felt a faint glimmer of hope when Cozens ripped that goal. It was such a good hockey play from start to finish ... how the hell did that happen?

It’s a f..king shame that the vigor and vibrance of those times has been flushed like butts down the john at the aud. We have a still rudderless ship thanks to the poor leadership of the gm over the last three years. Tough Veteran help at or before the deadline two years ago would have been enough to get into the playoffs. Continuing that trend last year would have likely prevented regression. The sabres do not value toughness in players enough. It’s as if they are building an amateur hockey team.  This has been the case throughout the 14 years. Here we are again at rock bottom.

When Terry Pegula looks in the mirror he sees Josh Allen and the brand new Stadium going up. Hockey is an after thought for him.
