kas23 Posted Thursday at 03:15 PM Report Posted Thursday at 03:15 PM Why would we support them taking a knee? lol. They are the problem. But I wouldn’t put it past them to deflect the blame. Quote

Over the last 13 years 100 + players have put on the Sabres uniform, they are all not the problem. it lies at the feet of 1 man who needs to sell the team and walk away 1 1 Quote

He was referring to essentially not trying out of protest or some such thing. So, Zach Bogosian or Taylor Hall. I was taking it literally lol, at puck drop or something. I think I’d have no choice BUT to admire it. It’s not going to help them, as individuals: the people most likely to have a positive reaction are on this board and, well, look at the results of the poll but they’d literally be putting a cause above themselves, which is admirable, logic of it or not. They’d indisputably be doing something I’ve said they haven’t done: claim the drought. They’d be acknowledging they are parts in a system that can’t function because of the manufacturers Would put a HELL of a spotlight on management and ownership. SO many people would say they were ungrateful twerps who should shut up and play, obviously. That they are the problem but I’m not going to be a hypocrite and sit here and say I haven’t been saying the exact same thing as the players would be: it’s not about them. I’d have no choice but to admire their gumption of the type rarely seen in pro sports, in fact this would be unprecedented: which is fitting for such an anomalific franchise Edited Thursday at 06:50 PM by Thorner Quote

This owner isn't even trying. When does it end? If any group of players could make it end, I think I'd induct every one of them into the Sabres HOF. Where the heart is is important. I think a good chunk of these guys love the Sabres, Sabres history and the fans. The 21-22 Sabres weren't great, but they gave us wins on two special nights for Rick. BTW on banner night they came out with their hair on fire. It's in them, in their hearts. The first period in Montreal was a statement, I'm sorry. Quote
Mango Posted Thursday at 06:49 PM Report Posted Thursday at 06:49 PM (edited) I worked in college sports for a while. There are teams that oust their HC's. I wouldn't take one of those jobs. I have friends who coach at the Olympic level, and similar to the NFL, college aften pays as much or more. Those coaches wouldn't take those jobs either. I know, change the GM and/or owner, not the coach. But programs where the team forces a firing are toxic to their core. Edited Thursday at 06:50 PM by Mango Quote
