Move Adams to Special advisor to the owner... Bump Ruff to GM and promote Appert. Quote

Imo most of the young guys should be in the minors. I think he is trying to teach them to play hockey... he has done far better with worse talent... I think your statement of they are completely incapable is 100% on... there is nothing Ruff can do with this dystopian, lazy, heartless, gutless, bunch of embarrassing insults to the sport of hockey... they are not hockey players and they dont want to play hockey. they are perimeter playing figure skaters who want nothing more than to feel the breeze in their hair when they skate and score pretty goals from the outside the faceoff circles... no one could do anything with this mix of players... back to Adams and his abject and utter willful incompetence. 1 Quote
Pimlach Posted Wednesday at 02:17 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:17 PM I am having a hard time with this. Nothing makes sense. The team is not this bad, but here they are. It took 31 games for them to reach the basement. Is the Core of the team incapable of learning and playing an NHL system? If so, then it doesn’t matter who coaches. I don’t think for one minute that Lindy is inside the inner circle of Terry Pegula and that there are promises of FO positions for him. I think he got convinced by Adams to take the job for 2 season and he thought the team was close and that he could help. I can’t see him working in the FO under these circumstances, especially if he steps down I think Lindy resigns at the end of the season and goes away. Whatever Terry said was obviously the opposite of inspiring and the players are quitting on the team. I really want to know who said to take the day off. Whoever the leaders are among the players should have said “no thanks, we have work to do”. 5 Quote

Whoever the leaders are among the players should have said “no thanks, we have work to do”. To your last point which I agree with... Either, the team is talented and they are uptight "gripping thier sticks too tight" (which is a euphemism for we are trying really hard and just need to relax) OR Lazy, disengaged, and soft and not fit to play the sport of hockey..... So.... which one.... Terry comes in and says... I am with you boys.. relax we can solve this... lets take the day off you guys got this... no crazy moves are gonna happen.... Now if the gripping the stick to tight scenario was the problem you have a more relaxed team just going out and playing free and having fun... I think we got our answer... team was like wooooo hoooo no changes we can continue to country club it for a bit longer.... OR they literally became more demoralized because there is no change on the way and they are begging for it..... either of the last two is a horrific situation. Pegula must be proud ! Quote

This is a team that had lost 10 in a row. They're in MTL. They're dressed to practice. They get a pep talk from an animatronic bologna sandwich of an owner then are given the day off. 10 straight losses and somebody opines that they need THE DAY OFF??? WTF, man? I am not sure when you say why are you promoting failure.... if you mean, why am I suggesting this (which I absolutely am not) or why would Terry do this... If it is why would Terry do this it is because I think he is inept and I have no faith he will do the smart thing... I think he will perpetuate the same dysfuncion and nespotic internal incestuous abject incompetence he has for his tenure. Nothing more than a complete overhaul of the front office to me is acceptable... but in the end how often are you going to do this before you simply cant attract any skill to come here... which ultimately means our best option is for him to sell the team. I’m saying Adams, Ruff, and Appert do not deserve to stay in any capacity. None of them do. The EEE Pegula/Adams era, and everything that it touched, needs to end. It failed. The only logical next step is for Terry to hire a POHO, and let him hire and run everything else. 1 3 Quote

See the obvious need and ceedes control... 2, Someone legitimate and outside of this internal circle jerk of ineptness will come here... outside of selling the team what you suggest is to me the only real hope. Mr Peabody Posted Wednesday at 03:19 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:19 PM Heard an interview with Donnie the other day talking about the 10 game skid. Paraphrasing, He described how it eats at you as coach, you can’t sleep, and you dwell on trying to figure it out. If I was collecting a check from NJ I’d say no mas for my mental health. Doubt he wants to go out that way so it may require a new FO to bring in their own coach. 1 Quote

In The Buff Posted Wednesday at 06:01 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 06:01 PM I'm guessing Ruff likely doesnt leave for a few years. 1st Adams has to be let go & then Lindy takes over as GM. Then Appert has to be named HC. Then we have another 2 years of basement dwelling before both Ruff & Appert are fired & an experienced front office is finally hired to replace them. Terry needs to go thru all this 1st before he changes course, as the previous 14 years havent taught him anything. The BILLS were about building a competitive team, built on solid financial ground & for sustained success. Very likely we lucked into Beane/McDermott/Allen but i'll take it. The Sabres were about living some childhood fantasy where he gets to be Mr Hockey. With not much thats stable with the franchise, other than Terrys always there. Until Terry has killed his own love for the team & that childhood fantasy has reached its end, i dont see much of anything changing. After 14 years of this shiteshow, where's the change gonna come from? Its all on Terry. Get the eff out of the way, hire someone who knows what theyre doing & enjoy the ride. Quote

I’m not saying it is likely to happen that he comes back to Buff, but I wouldn’t completely rule it out. I don’t get the impression Peca left pissed off. He had an offer from the Sabres, but it wasn’t what he wanted. The Sabres didn’t have an open position on the bench at the time and he accepted a promotion elsewhere. The Sabres didn’t screw him (well they did in 2000, and he STILL came back to the org). He’s not coaching in the NHL today without the Sabres org and Appert specifically. Quote

Howdy Doody Adams is a joke of a public figure and has no executive pedigree whatsoever. Quote

He's the guy who just handed $11.5M to a goaltender. No thanks.. not interested at all. As for Ruff - he won't quit. He will get moved around as part of the Adams release. Appert will be interim HC and they'll go get a GM or POHO.. or both preferably. This allows Ruff to save some face for agreeing to take on this roster. 1 Quote
