Well you know Terry picked a game he felt they could win to give his little speech but since they lost, and lost with a dud of an effort, it might just make him mad enough to make a move. maybe firing Ruff was part of the plan all along. Maybe it's just coming sooner than they expected.

Maybe they do a switch-a-roo……HC heir apparent Seth Appert becomes HC per the Pegula plan, but Lindy stays on as an assistant.  Pegula doesn’t spend any more money for a new hire, Ruff can step back and let Seth take all the heat.  Two months from now, Pegula can meet with the team and tell them he believes in Seth.

If he makes it through the season, I'll be floored. That dog and pony show with Uncle Terry yesterday would have been the final straw for me. The big dumb owner breezes in and tells everyone they have nothing to worry about and then they CANCEL PRACTICE? A team on a 10 game skid gets the day off? What kind of outfit are these clowns running?

Ruff isn’t at fault for this in the big picture, obviously. He was a terrible choice to coach this team though. The charade of a coaching search that preceded his hiring  was perhaps the ultimate and obvious sign that this was headed in the wrong direction and fast.

Assuming Terry won't sell the team, which is my #1 hope

I would be happy moving Lindy to the top of the pyramid.  Let him hire the next GM of the Sabres as president

But i dont think he quits as the coach, I I think he has the confidence in himself that he can right the ship.
I think he will have a lot of say of who the next GM will be though

Wouldn't it be crazy if they brought back Darcy? lol   Actually not sure if I would laugh or cry.   Though, they would be in better hands than where they are now

Terry is POHO. That doesn’t change unless he sells the team.

Pegula moves him up to the front office soon I feel.

this is what i think happens.  Ruff is his buddy and no coach will be able figure this out with this roster build.  don't make Ruff the scapegoat.   Scotty Bowman couldn't succeed with this baby faced roster.   Time to do a Bills/2016-style reset.  Trade away the AHL-level figure skaters and get tougher.

He’s being paid by NJ, so yes.

yeah none of this is about $$.  Lindy has more than enough of that; he has stated this was his last coaching gig; so yeah this will be where he goes up to the front office and off the bench.  He's a good hockey guy, but the roster is so young, light, small and soft that it needs to fitted out with tougher guys.

This roster isn't particularly small or light.

It's certainly soft though but size does not equal tough.

Does he keep the money if he quits?

He's owed money by the Devils either way.

Here's a scenario I can see happening: Adams fired/resigns, Ventura/Fortan to GM, Ruff to PoHO, Appert to head coach.

No one will pay a $billion for the Sabres to keep them in Buffalo.
