Again, not pounding the drum here, but Karmanos has 25 years of NHL front office experience. He’s a Harvard Grad. He was AGM for 3 Stanley Cup winners. His name has come up for GM openings around the league in the last few off-seasons. It would be foolish to dismiss him as an option, I think.

I would not be totally against it, but he needs more autonomy than any other sabres Gm has had in a while, and I'd want him to have the ability to clear out any of the leftovers from the prevous regime and hire from scratch.

I don't disagree in concept. But rewarding lack of effort and unprecedented failure is not where i would be i would bag skate em

Sure, but how many times can they keep doing that until they need to try something else?

I don't think players/kids these days respond to 'Bag Skates' and tougher practices these days as the players of the older days did. Sometimes just being able to get a day to unwind and get away from the game can help them mentally get back. I think Bag skates work better when players are intentionally not giving their top effort, same with intentionally embarrassing them by making them healthy scratches or benching them for their effort.

Archie he might be the next coming of Scotty Bowman I just don't know... i do know this... he is part of the organization that I deem especially after this game literally worse than the NY Jets as the most inept in all of the history of pro sports... so maybe he is awesome but I just want to rid this team of the stench that this inept soul sucking cesspool has become

For those of us that made it to the end of this game, congratulations?

This message board/forum being availble helps alot.

I don't think there are many actual people that would want to sit next to us and hear us talk about the things we get to post on the forum during games.

I’m not saying there are strong disagreements, but they aren’t showing you the video of the assistant GM saying he would do something differently. It’s just never the case that a group of people in such an environment are entirely monolithic in their thinking. Further, such a change could be done on an interim basis.

As for the Pegula factor, that’s a big concern to be sure. It could be that it won’t be any better with any GM. But we are about to lose our 11th in a row. In Adams 5th year as GM we are last in the Conference 32 games into the season. It could not be more dire. How could handing the reigns to Karmanos for 4 months make things worse?

Wouldn't the smart move be to find the GM of the future and have him access everything this year for next year? Make a few moves that don't have to be monumental right now.

There is one thing that is a minor thing in the big picture, but I think about every few days with regard to this team.

Lindy in the past always had a heavyweight/tough guy/enforcer.

In an interview with Rob Ray in the offseason, he talked about the value of having that type of guy on the roster.

I forgot who he was talking to, but in the offseason he intereviewed with someone else and he said the same thing, there is a value to having a guy like that.

He had McDermid in New Jersey last year for that role.

If Lindy has always had a player like that, including his last year in New Jersey. If he spoke openly about the value of having it at least 2 times this offseason, why have the Sabres not gone out and found SOMEONE like that?

They need so much more than a pugilist type player.

But at the root of your point is how much input Lindy really has.  I think it’s a small amount.

It is a catharsis. It helps.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been more fights. Honestly there should’ve been. Shows that the light has all but gone out.

The problem is, what is monumental move and what isn't?

I think Cozens is prett awful, and trading him would be both a minor move (because he isn't that important to the team) but a good one at the same time.

Yet there are others than when I bring up moving Cozens think I'm crazy, how can you trade a guy who should be and will in the future be one of your top stars?

I think if you make a move, then make a move and start fixing things right away. You dont' change the front office unless there are major problem, and if there are major problems, roll up your sleeves and get to work fixing them right away.

You are correct and in all honesty as a manager of a large team of people I know what you say to be true. So if I am honest I bag skate them cause it would make me feel better cause I am pissed. So there... there is the truth lol as bad as it sounds for me I would relish making them puke...

Best post of the night.

The embarrassment that Terry should feel after giving his reassurance should be enough to shake things up

Maybe forget about trying to teach 200’ hockey and go back 2022?  At least there was entertainment. Donnie couldn’t do it and Lindy is failing at it so give it up and start next year with different personnel.

2022 really got me back in to the Sabres more than I had been for a few years. It was a lot of fun to watch. I really like getting to know the guys more and I was optimistic for the future.

I honestly kind of hate this team now

The part about Karmanos is my main point.

This is probably a pipe dream, but maybe Pegula told the team that to calm down any rumors and right now, this very day he is starting a search for a GM and will ask that GM to put together his entire hockey department. In a few days or a week, he'll announce the changes. No one stays. No chance of the same ideas, the same group-think from before because everyone will be new.

I know, that is probably not happening.

That costs money, so definitely not happening

Neither of us know whether the next guy will be successful, regardless of who it is. We know the current guy has failed. Adams had a plan and stuck to it. Credit to him, I suppose, for holding firm to his vision. But since April 15, 2023, the Kevyn Adams tenure has been an absolute failure.

I would move that date to March 3, 2023 because he whiffed at improving the club at the trade deadline and the Sabres just missed the playoffs.
