would being an assistant GM for a successful franchise be enough? Or does he need experience being in the captains chair?

if you want a guy with experience , the list will be pretty short on guys with experience and a track record of success.

I made that joke about 3 years ago - Pegula got bullied by a hockey player way back when he went to high school and this entire owndership plan has been revenge on hockey fans and players. 

Sometimes it feels like that's the only possible explanation.

Lol seriously it is not possible to be this inept unless it's on purpose. You literally have a better chance at winning Power Ball than not making the playoffs in the NHL 14 years in a row... it has to be on purpose... even if they used Athlon sports mock drafts they would be in better shape

Yup, it takes a lot to stay this inept this long for sure. We have a ridiculous number of former first round picks on this roster. Far more than any team I can think of and yet still, the same results.

I doubt Adams will be fired.  We'll get some haphazard lame assed executive statement from Pegula, that this is unnacceptable, but no change will be made.  That's Terry's mindset on everything he's done in Buffalo.  He wants a GM who will listen to him, but he doesn't listen to the fans who pay to fill the arena.

It won't matter, this organization has sunk below what the Coyotes had been in Arizona. The NHL does not exist in Buffalo and the only people going to games will be families taking advantage of the dirt cheap prices on StubHub. I'm serious, I actually think that hockey is dying here and may never come back.

It will be like the Bandits where families can go out for a sports night once in a while on the cheap. It's hard to imagine that this has actually happened to a once great NHL fanbase. Terry Pegula was the death of this organization and has turned this city into a ONE team town (see what I did there). 

Farewell Sabres, I wish I could say it was a fun ride, but I would have to go back 20 years ago for that to be true.

In a bizarre world where ownership allows the GM to run the team with no interference, I think Chris Drury is interesting. Things in Manhattan seem to be coming to a head. Terry being nostalgic, perhaps he makes that one work. Bring back Peca to work with Lindy. Maybe make him the new succession plan not Appert.
