I am a legend. If not a poet. But probably both. but me typing “*fact*” is just that: words on the internet. It doesn’t MAKE it fact just because the great Thorny said it. You can kindly disregard it or call the post inane, I don’t care Me saying it doesn’t suggest a board ruling. I don’t have that kind of power. It’s not an attempt at stifling conversation. If there’s one thing I do it’s promote engagement, we can ask SDS but id be shocked if otherwise I’m not always right People just follow me cause I’m awesome You are definitely not promoting board engagement. When you tell people they are wrong because of what you consider facts that others do not agree with, that is not promoting engagement, that is provoking confrontation. And do not fall down back-peddling too hard on your use of the word fact. I read your posts. You did not just push your opinions as fact one time, you did it over and over. Say something once in jest and it may be justified as just a word on the internet. With the level you pushed it, it is a lot more than that. It is a sign you refuse to accept someone elses opinioin and you are going to try to beat them down with your version of facts, which are not facts. Your rep on the board? what is the measure of that rep? Your post count? So I should bow down before your opinion because of your 'self assigned' rep on this forum? I will not. Dear Admins? Can you tell me where I may find the list of the rankings of posters by their rep on this board? Anyone? Or should I just refer to Thorner as the authority on this? I guess we can all have opinions, except when it goes against what Thorner states are his facts. Got it? No, I do not, and i will not. Edited 3 hours ago by EM88 Quote

I actually have to concede that he has been one of the worst GMs in all of sports, despite the fact that he did better than both of his predecessors? Which I guess by definition they were also historically bad. So the Sabres have been unfortunate enough to hire 3 consecutive historically bad general managers - each one as bad as the previous one. Anything short of that is an unreasonable opinion. Got it. No, I didn’t say you had to concede that at all. Where? - - - 1) I think it would be reasonably possible to argue otherwise at the very least - dunno where the “anything short of” thing is coming from 2)even if I did think it was inarguable i wouldn’t care what your opinion is further than enjoying debating it. I don’t expect you to change your mind. The only stance I find ridiculous is the one that amounts to Adam’s essentially being an unknown quantity Edited 2 hours ago by Thorner Quote

What's the old saw about monkeys, infinite time, typewriters, and Hamlet? I credit not at all what Adams has done during "his" tenure. Not a whit. Blind squirrels and chestnuts? Maybe. But everything he's done, taken as a whole, has convinced me that he doesn't understand asset management, roster management, nor team building. Not at an NHL GM level anyway. Terrific summarization of my evaluation of KA as a GM. A scout looks at a player/prospect as an individual. While the GM looks at a player with a wider lense, taking into consideration the prospect's role and how he fits within the roster. The problem that I have with KA is not that he isn't drafting well enough as he is not augmenting his picks with the right players through free agency and trades. Team building is more than stocking the team. He simply can't get the mix right, and he's had more than enough time catch up with his lapses. 3 1 Quote

Your GM sucks. I’m not your enemy. Stop taking out your anger on me 25 minutes ago, JohnC said: Terrific summarization of my evaluation of KA as a GM. And as it turns out, even the good drafting gets undercut by the other components not being up to scratch. Finding the right balance is the essence of team building My worry is that some of the young talent get so frustrated with the extended struggles they are having and with the team that they end up requesting a change of scenery to be reinvigorated. I can see that happening with Cozens, Quinn, JJP and even Power. It certainly happened with Eichel, Reinhart and ROR. This organization needs to demonstrate more urgency to address issues rather than let them linger in the hope that it will work itself out. Losing is corrosive. 1 Quote

Where you been for the last 10+ years? Of course it's going to happen. Dahlin or Cozens or somebody wanting out will feel like here we go again but imagine how you're going to feel when even Tuch wants out and doesn't re-sign. Quote

I'm 100% sure that's what Adams was thinking at the time. Most likely they looked at JBot not doing it with Reinhart as a mistake they didn't want to repeat. Fundamentally it's based on complete confidence in their own drafting though and their projected ceilings rather than on ice performance to date. Quote

I agree with this. I think the team made the decision to commit early to kids they believe still have a good chance of developing and then just ride it out. If most of them hit then those contracts end up looking pretty nice in about 2028. Thrilling stuff. Quote

For sure. And if true, that’s very unfortunate that Adams thought that way. He could have looked at it like Beane. Which is, that once his players start winning, they will like their teammates, and the coaches and staff, and especially the community. Players would stay if they had a chance to win. Adam’s brought up the Bills in his presser but he missed the mark on his comments. He talked about the difficulties they had, but doesn’t follow how they overcame it.
