Meeting with the players might be a smart move. I don't know what current relationship is, but let's say it's kind of a distant father situation. You're in trouble and your dad flies in from Vail after spending the weekend with your older brother who owns the fastest growing ski shop in Colorado, to see you in juvie, it could be big. Also the Pegula Bills Dust might float around and land on 'em. Sounds like an 80’s movie Stoner. 1 Quote

Mr. Allen Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago My concern is I believe Ruff was brought in with a plan for more than this year. They expected him to lead this team to the playoffs and then take a step up and allowing Appert to take over. But Ruff does not have this teams attention or he just can’t get a team to win like he used to. If Ruff has already lost the locker room, what do you do? Abandon the plan of bringing him up? Can you fire him and let him take over as President or something while his team is failing? How does Pegula handle this? Because something has got to happen, right? Quote

He is going to Montreal because its a nice city to visit, its a direct flight from Detroit, the food is good, etc. He can see the team, give the players their Christmas gift, and not have to face the intensity of the Buffalo Hockey media. 1 1 Quote

I'm not trying to be a dick but the direct flight part is laughable. Terry can direct flight to anywhere he wants. He isn't googling delta to see if the have direct flight, he's chartering a private jet if he doesn't own one and going. 1 Quote

Because that’s when they lost their 10th straight? It’s an absolute clown show at this point they need to fire someone Doing nothing and therefore labelling it all as acceptable when other teams make changes for oh so much less failure is so embarrassing 1 Quote

The reality of his private jet takes away from the austerity that is the Sabres. The story is better that he grabs a last minute super saver on Air Canada ( flying economy coach). He probably cannot get all that fruitcake through customs either. 1 Quote

I saw a feature on Petersson a couple of years ago. He gave off strong “hockey is just something I happen to be really good at” vibes. O’Reilly lost his love for the game in Buffalo. Maybe the key is to bring in a player who doesn’t love the game to begin with. 1 1 Quote
erickompositör72 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago I'm convinced Lindy is currently our only hope. He is the kind of nostalgia agent that could win Terry over (if he hasn't already), and actually has enough NHL contacts & experience to identify the right people. Whether he stays on as HC and helps Terry pick a new GM, or becomes the GM himself and picks a new coach, I don't see any other way Terry figures this out. 3 Quote

Flashsabre Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I can see it now: Buffalo wins in Montreal 4-3. Adams holds a PC to tell the world how everyone was motivated by Pegula’s presence and this proves what an amazing owner he is. Personally I would like it to be because Terry is stepping behind the bench. We’ve seen about everytelse in this 14 years of incompetence but this would even raise it to a new level of dysfunction 🤣 Quote

The FO lost the fans, the fans lost the team, the locker room lost the fans. There’s no coach to win that back because the fatal flaw is roster construction. Scotty Bowman wouldn’t get this roster to playoffs. It’s not a team, it’s a collection of players. Edited 2 hours ago by Mango 3 Quote

This is the biggest (only?) reason I was pro the Lindy Ruff hire. If Ruff gets fired and/or Adams claims this is a coaching issue I hope that the next time he’s in front of a mic he gets roasted about his lies about a “thorough and extensive coaching search”. If it isn’t his roster it’s his choice of coach…twice…no GM in any major sport in the US gets to botch two coaching hires in a row. 1 Quote

Is it conceivable that Lindy Ruff has been performing the same role as Kevin Adams did before he moved into the GM role? Perhaps Lindy has been keeping tabs on everything, performing an evaluation of the hockey operations, and reporting to Pegula? Fan fiction I suppose.. I don't think Ruff has the rat persona like adams does 1 Quote
