What the difference between the team we’ve been trying to build over the last five years or so versus the team that was built going into the lockout year and then after in 2005 - 2006? Why was that team different? What were the differences in approach? I have a few ideas, but I’m curious if anybody has really thought it through. I just absolutely loved the blend of youth, veteran, leadership, grit, speed goal, tending, and balance that those teams had. I can literally remember every single guy on an individual basis. I have the panoramic picture plaques of the whole team standing together for both of those years. why did the rebuild from the Hasek teams work then versus what has failed so miserably now? You had a more balanced lineup top to bottom I think. Brian Campbell then was a 3rd pair D-man. Your top 9 forwards (all top 3 lines) basically were 20-30 goal scorers. The guy with the least goals among forwards in the top 3 lines were Hecht and Connolly (both just missing 20 goals) but they both missed a lot of games, so they were 'on pace' for 20+ When you have 3 lines you can roll out there, all of which are as productive as any single line on the current team, that gets you there. 1 Quote

Cozens is an anchor to anything involving offense. He is an anchor to the entire team. His shooting is actually decent the last month, but he is the biggest anchor among all anchors on the PP, that is for sure. 1 Quote
Dreams Burn Down Posted December 15 Report Posted December 15 Sweet Geronimo, will Tuch score ever again? Quote

Everyone else has figured out they suck and shouldn't be paid attention to." If that wasn't your intent, I apologize. Nope. Everyone knows they suck so it’s just for fun until there’s a future reason to become emotionally interested. 1 Quote

Any other guy stands up for a teammate, gets in a fight and the team responds with a tying goal and fans typically credit him with rallying the team. Cozens is the new whipping buy though. Quote
Carmel Corn Posted December 15 Report Posted December 15 Veteran move by Malenstyn to draw that boarding call. Quote

Wyldnwoody44 Posted December 15 Report Posted December 15 Look the stupid drop pass never works and actively hurts you. 1 Quote
Carmel Corn Posted December 15 Report Posted December 15 Tage, you can't beat 4 guys going through the middle.....carry the puck over the line and then curl towards the half wall and look for your teammates entering the zone. Quote
Stads Posted December 15 Report Posted December 15 Thanks Bowen. Glad I didn't have to watch the rest of that PP 1 Quote
